You don't have to spend hundreds to get a folding bike that you can use for an international cycle tour. interesting video thanks. I've been doing similar but finding it annoying so looking for improvements. I've been using those zip up laundry bags, like 3 inside reach other, bike bits and tent sleeping bag etc and clothes and anything else all stuffed in. Ends up being close to 20kg but the bag is so unwieldy and I'm only small. Would love a strong ish oversized rucksack with wheels, or a way to attach the bike wheels, to make the in between travels less of a pain in the arse. Good tip on tent poles in seat stem.

Spring release pedals (from ebay) are a godsend, you can pull them without wrench.

I tried this for a test on the weekend with my Dahon. Realised that sadly the mudguards would need to be left behind. Quick release front and rear wheels helped, but I've still not got it back together correctly after several hours in the hot sun, and the brakes don't work now...what a novice. But I guess you get better and better at at.

I used to be obsessed by the idea by of saving money by having/ even inventing a take apart bike for travel. Truth be told you will have to put your gear in a second box. It's generally less expensive to put a bike and your gear in one (oversize) box/ pay for one oversize box than pay for two boxes.
