A Top tip for fork and frame protection, is foam pipe lagging sold at DIY shops, very cheap but perfect for bikes! Also bear in mind that your pride and joy might be stood on during loading and unloading by baggage handlers!

How about making sure it’s clean because some countries (Australia I think) are tough on bringing dirt that could have bacteria etc into the country?

Good call - New Zealand and Australia makes you show shoes and wheels at a minimum. I've thrown shoes and tyres out rather than deal with a grumpy Customs official in both Australia and NZ.

If you were coming to New Zealand (Australia is pretty harsh too) that mud/dirt would have cost you a lot of time and maybe even a fine at the border just another little tip.

Thanks for the video! Curious why you remove the derailleur from the hanger, and leave the hanger attached to the frame? Thanks!

awesome and useful video. as for CO2 cartridges, it's possible that the ones used for lifejackets have been tested and tested again and gotten a seal of approval for aviation use. something that would probably not be the case for commercially available products. as with paintball equipment, no european airline allows paintball/airsoft co2 cartridges, could be the same for our tyre inflators.
@rtmunro2 жыл бұрын
weight is a serious concern. my preferred airline treats bikes as regular checked baggage, and I get one free checked bag, up to 50lbs. more than 50lbs gets a $100 surcharge. My bike weighs 36lbs, the cardboard box & packing materials put me at 49.5lbs after I removed my chain and pedals. I couldn't put a pair of socks in there let alone stuff a 26lb bike bag with tools and gear.
@urbanphotographer6 жыл бұрын
Very good! I’m planning to buy one but when looking at airline rules there are only a few of them that allow a weight above 23 kg. More or less everyone with an L frame and above must have a problem with this limit since most of the bike travel bags weigh around 10 kg.
@newttella10436 жыл бұрын
Airlines will still let you bring an over 23kg bag. They just add an overweight charge. This was what they did when everyone used those hard cases that weighed over 13kg.

Lucky enough I don’t live in the UK. So where ever I go, Austria/Switzerland/France/SouthernPalatinate I can use my Mercedes-Benz Marco Polo 🙋🏼♂️ only Mallorca is a pain in the ass, so I prefer renting a canyon at the canyon-store-mallorca

Another one... I travelled to Scotland some weeks ago. My friend brought her bike and it took up ridiculous amounts of space in my car to and from the airport! This time we rented a van over there but that felt like total overkill. A small or medium car can’t accomodate two bags. With a bigger car it would probably work but then you’re definitely restricted to 2 persons in the car. Any smart ideas?

Hello GMBN Team, I like your work and your channel. very impressive. The idea of packing this way is very nice instead of usual way. But I am wondering is it good enough to prevent bike from damage caused by putting many things above each other?

But will this particular bag fit in the boot of an SUV in vertical position? I'm afraid that it is quite tall and wide to fit in a boot.
