Also, yard saling this weekend, every time, per watching Pete, asked "can you do a little better on price?" or "how much for all these item together?". Over a year, this is gonna save me alottamoney. Also, per another video, made a cut-down custom fit box, which saves me $$ shipping to Amazon. Thanks Pete.

Ripping poor people off isn't always the best thing to do... I guess if the guy's dumb enough to not put it on Ebay asking at least 25% of it's worth then it's his loss.

Pete, I am really enjoying watching your videos. I have been listening to Scavenger Life for 2 years, and finally got started with Ebay (Been doing FBA for almost 3 years, on track to sell about 7000 items this year). Just started Ebay 2 mos ago, and have about 60 items listed, with 6 sales totalling $600. My goal is to get up to 500 items by the end of the year, which is a little tough, as I have a regular 40 hr job + 20+ hrs per week AZ, so we will see, I think I am already developing a good eye for ebay items, as I Been watching videos, reading blogs etc pretty much whenver I have free time. I think the stuff you share is super valuable. I really like that you get in the trenches - show yard saling, dumpster diving, etc. But what I really like is that you increased your ASP and I am going to try to follow that plan. Just got back from a Surplus Store and among my scores is this heavy machine, an oscillator, that weighs about 60 lbs, so this video comes in handy. I wanted to ask a few things - what % of your business is AZ and what % is Ebay (vs Store and other income), what is your aprx inventory size for Az? and for Ebay (both stores)? Oh, by the way, I also just watched the video of what you do with stuff that hasnt sold, and I am trying that also (99 cent auction with higher shipping to help cover cost)....question...do you run a 7 day auction or does it even matterz? Do you reup the auction if if doesnt move the 1st time? Well, just want to really thank you for all you share, and all the help you provide. I know personally, I have already implemented at least 3-4 ideas from your videos, that I think will really improve my business. Thanks alot.

I am a car dealer by day and ebayer by night. That fire truck is worth $15,000 wholesale at auction in that condition. Of course, I am not looking at it in person, but ones that are junked out with headlights, ladders, etc. missing bring $10,000 on a bad day.

Shipping heavier items has always been a problem for me especially finding out who is the cheapest. As far as postage I don't return any of it to the buyer cause I try to stay close to how much it's going to cost me and a little extra is just packing fee to me. Thanks for sharing the video and the shipping tips.
@tootall55597 жыл бұрын
I don't use Fed EX ever, the closest place was very rude to me when I inquired about shipping a large package. USPS does fine until it gets big and heavy, or just big. Sometimes the weight isn't a lot, but the size is the problem. Over a certain size, USPS charges a surcharge. UPS treats me right, and is often way cheaper on the big stuff even if USPS would take it.

Hey pete, I'm a full-time student and work for UPS part time. When I am at work and read the shipping labels, I noticed that some of these labels don't correctly match up with the actual weight. for example, I get packages that are labeled 20lbs but they feel like they're 50lbs. So maybe you can possibly lie about the weight?
@successandlifestyle7 жыл бұрын
NREY26 can't you flag those items? For that much desparity? Seems like they should be weighed. Assuming it's a common theme those customers /shipping should be dinged the extra $$.
@Scotty_in_Ohio7 жыл бұрын
Even if he fudged the numbers a little bit it's likely to wind up in "irregular" jail - all the packages that are too long, heavy, weight all on one end or aren't a tidy box are considered to be "irregular and get treated very poorly - adding to the abuse is ones marked 50lbs and are way over that. I worked the primary sort and unload for a few years at UPS. I'll be amazed if the package gets there in one piece or if does it'll look like it's been through a war zone.

Love your channel. But I would annoyed if you sent a CJ amp that I purchased for a grand, to me like that. It should have been completely covered in plastic or a thick clear plastic bag. Picking out small pieces out of the heat sinks is annoying after unpacking. Anyways, love the content.

1st let me say sorry for the rambling on and on! 2nd! Never say never PETE! I don't care how well it is packed if something like that is dropped it can get damaged. Sad to say it happened to me with a glass faced Macintosh amplifier it was about a 55 pound box about 24x30x9 inches. I used Styrofoam for all four corners of the amp , bubble wrapped it and filled all voids with packing peanuts then put it in another box with a 3 inch gap all around filled it with more packing peanuts. both I used almost two rolls of tape on both boxes. The buyer received it broken with the the coroner glass face of the amp was cracked. Now the nightmare just began USPS did not want to cover the damage since they said they say "no visible damage to the box" that I must of sent it that way!! WHAT THEY ARE THEY EFFEN CRAZY! I believe the box had so much tape hard to see the where the impact was my guess a comer of the box where the glass was broken. If you drop any 55lb item with glass chances are it would get damaged. I'm 100% sure package was not handled with care! WELL!!!! after fighting with ebay for like 6 months they ebay did refund me since USPS did not total was about $650. I did take photos of my packing on that item.
@jmend88597 жыл бұрын
Its absolutely ok if you come in under the shipping to keep the difference. If you go over your shipping, you can't say...oh well it cost me more than I expected, so now I have to charge you more. So, if you come in under...its yours...of course not to mention the time you take to pack and the materials. However, that point is moot because you don't get that every time you sell. If that's your logic, you have to charge more on top of your shipping cost every single time to compensate for your time and materials in shipping.

What I want to know is how you price the buy it now stuff. Seems to me if they sell that fast, with no lower offer, you're probably too low in the first place. I know you can get comparisons, but so many idiots sell too cheap, so comparisons are not always worth going by. Depending on the condition of the item, (less if more used, more if unused and looks it) I generally start at half the new price. Sometimes I'll go two thirds of the new price if the item is extra nice, in the box, so forth. However, most of the time I sell vintage stuff where there is no new price, and just because some idiot let an item go for the 99 cents ebay always tell you to use, doesn't mean it should By the way, what's up with that, no matter the item, no matter the condition or value, they always are after me to start things at 99 cents. No way I'm doing that, tried it, lost money. I never sell an item for less than I have in it, plus enough to cover the fees. Just no sense in that. I'd rather donate it to the local thrift than let some joker get it for nothing.

You have expedited shipping on the listings which is 1-3 days but you ship it 10 day ground through UPS?? Shouldn’t be surprised if you get bad feedback, or requested refund/return. Seems very disingenuous to lure people into your listings with Expedited shipping without the intention to actually follow through on that.

The guy got a very good deal on a very expensive amp - $100 in shipping probably isn't the customers major concern - now when UPS gets done with it and rejects the insurance claim I'll bet Pete would wish he'd spend those "savings" on a little more insurance or chosen a freight carrier....
@Clide0_07 жыл бұрын
Pepp5150 with ebay/paypal fees that "extra" money isn't that much. Plus he has to pack it, drive there and drop it off to ship. So labor also goes into the shipping cost. Again when you account those two you didn't really get any $ extra but rather got what you expected.
