How To Pack & Check-In Frozen Food For Flights!

In this video, I share how I packed frozen food for my trip to Turks & Caicos. I visited the island in 2019 and found the grocery store to be expensive, so I wanted to be prepared this time. Also, our stay was 7 days, and to me, that's a long time to eat out daily.
Note: In the video, I said carry-on and meant to say "checked."
QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE
What is the cost to check a box? $0 on Southwest Airlines, as long as you adhere to the dimensions and the weight.
Do you need dry ice? In my opinion, you do not. I didn't have the chance to use dry ice, and my food came out fine.
Do you think it saved you money? Yes, the grocery bill spent $83 pp.
Why would you eat the same food from home? Don't you like to eat local cuisine? Yes, I ate out as well but just not all the time.
Why didn't you get an all-inclusive hotel? We wanted to stay together, and Airbnb was the affordable option.
Were you asked to open the box? No, not in the US or Turks. I was only asked what was in it.
How did you wheel it in? An airport cart.
I hope this is very helpful for those who travel with children or larger families who want to save extra. I am sure sometimes taking the entire family on vacation can get a little pricey.

Walmart. I don't remember the dimension of that one. But check the dimensions with the airline. I flew Southwest.

Hello I know it's been months since you posted this video. I'm currently preparing to travel to Jamaica and I wanted to take a some frozen foods. I just wanted to make sure they let you bring this as a carry on or does it need to be a checked item.

Hi Demetria! Thanks for watching. I misspoke in my video. I checked this box because it was huge. But yes I have taken smaller frozen items in my carry-on before. This particular video was for Southwest Airlines. So make sure to check to see if it's allowed on the airline you will be traveling with. I hope this helps.

@@shaydirty hi. Not sure about what you cannot bring. May have to research. But as you saw in the video I packed sausage, chicken, lunch meat, veggies, cheese, frozen whipping cream. If you pack a liquid then FREEZE it first. I packed bread, popcorn, creamer. Also, you can pack seasonings in your Carry-On luggage.

Thanks so much for this video. I am flying ice cream on a 4 hour flight. Used Dry Ice when I drove ice cream 25hrs, but I think doing as you do, I might be OK with regular ice packets for 4hrs. 🤞🏼

Hi there, thank you for this short and fun video! I’ve looked on YT for short videos about flying with frozen food but didn’t find anything good-except for this video! I’m vegan but my sister isn’t and I want to bring her Strawberry Shortcake Frozen Dessert Bars because I love her dearly and she hasn’t had one in 15 years 😂😭 your vid description said you didn’t use your dry ice. My international flight will be around 5 hours, and the ice cream isn’t bulky, I’ll take 1-6 bars max, so the disposable box 📦 isn’t for me. Do you happen to have other containers to recommend to me? For instance, an insulated lunch box?

Yes, most definitely use an insulated lunch box. I found that I didn't need dry ice and my flight was just as long. It stays cold I guess so many feet in the air. My food was rock solid when I got to my vacation.

That saves money. I got an Igloo rolling ice chest (wheels) that is within airline checked bag size limits. I reuse it for annual fishing trips to Alaska and can bring back 50 lbs of halibut or salmon I catch, worth about $1000 so it pays for a big part of my trip.
