I carry two spare tubes, front and rear, spare front tyre, multitool, emergency-sugar (bars like you), tyre levers, waterbottles, neoprene cover for repairs, phone in holder, rag to wipe the windscreen, chainlinks, chaintool, the two standard 8 and 10 keys, and a warm sweater for if I need to stop in the cold. Thanks for another instructional video!

Thanks for watching! A rag to wipe the wind screen really would be useful some times :)

Great suggestions, thank you Saukki! I am not sure how my new Milan GT is equipped but I will either have water bottles or a CamelBak bladder. If I do not need the straps I may cut them off. As I commented, I only carry the tools that fit my bike. I will probably carry a long dérailleur cable and SPOKE TOOL. I have never carried extra chain links, just a chain tool. If a chain breaks you can remove 2 links and still ride home without using the lowest/highest gears. BUT, I will carry one or two in my Velo. Toilet paper a must. lol EMERGENCY FIRST AID. A couple of band-aids, triple anti-biotic cream, gauze, aspirin and a women's sanitary napkin (Maxi Pad). The napkin will absorb A LOT of blood and weighs nothing. Use Duct Tape to hold the gauze or pad in place. Place everything in a sealed plastic bag. IF the tires are old carry a spare. Plan on 5 punctures; one new tube and 4 patches. For Velos, we can double that but only one spare tube of each tire size. Throw a DOLLAR BILL (Euro?) in the tool bag for emergency AND if the tire has a bad casing problem you can wrap the bill around the inner tube so it inflates but does not exert pressure on the tire at the problem area. bikecarson.com/2008/08/17/repairing-a-torn-sidewall-on-your-tire/ SUPER GLUE; small tube for sidewall repair. Thanks for the list! I need a pad for my Velo, extra battery, Leatherman Tool(?) and a new floor pump. I use a SOCK for my wallet (change purse). Seriously. I keep it in my front pocket. Not in our Velos, BUT sitting on a wallet that is thick can hurt your back/spine. My sock has I.D., cards, money, some change, some papers. Nobody wants to steal my sock, much less touch it. LOL Have fun...

Honestly, I think that if we have the space we fill it up. I have a rack pack on the back of my tandem and a frame bag. We just keep throwing stuff in there like somebody else is going to pedal it home! Another great video:^)

For drinking I carry a 2 litre Camelbak behind the seat of my Strada (only on long trips); I also have a 13mm wrench with me and an M8 bolt, ever since one of my velomobile colleagues lost the left hand side bolt of the reasr wheel during Oliebollentocht 2014. In that case the whole rear wheel can come loose from the freewheel and the axle.

Instead of a mat or a blanket I decided to carry a larger piece of air bubble film to lay the Velomobile on it. That air bubble film does weight almost nothing and can be foldet or rolled to a smaller pack than the mat. Actually I have the pump rapped into it so that the pump doesn't bounce around and cause extra noise.

I have a bag almost like yours full of tool and spare Parts! two tires, one 20 and one 559, with tubes. I like the way you have yours ready to install, might change mine like that. I also carry repair kits and lots of tools. Sometimes I've had to stop and help the roadies who carry nothing. I carry a first aid kit as well, and have had to hand out a lot of bandages to crash victims. All this when riding Locally! On longer rides away from my SAG team (wife) I carry extra clothes and regular shoes as well. Seems we velonauts all carry a lot more than our 60-80 pound bikes!

Hello Saukki, I'm quite new to Velomobiles, I have had my Carbon Strada since 2 weeks! I now have the following items with me: - a 20" spare inner tube - a 26" spare inner tube - a tire repair set that came with the Strada (you have a better one as I can see!) - an Abus chain with lock - the pump you also carry with you, it came with the Strada - a bottle of Shimano wet lube - an 8mm spanner - the spare battery you also have - the Velomobile bag itself - the extra, mirrored bag that can be bought as an extra, for the other side Planning to buy: a Garmin 810 (NOT 820 due to the bad touch screen!) and I have bought two Fenix BC30 lights and four 18650 (3500mAh!) batteries for it, I took the option of two "sticks" protruding from the mirrors, so I can mount the lights there. I also have the racing hood you have. I see, you also use a Garmin? Do you have good reception deep down in the Velomobile? I tried using my TomTom 750 which is in fact meant for cars, but also has the option of calculating routes for bikes(!) but this one has NO reception at all deep down...
@TheVelomobileChannel
@TheVelomobileChannel 7 жыл бұрын
I also have one extra mount for light that was attached to mirror, but I took it off. I was going to use it as a mount for action cam, but it was too wobbly for that. Before you buy that Garmin, I suggest you to check Wahoo Elemnt Bolt. What I know about it, it seems to be much better than my Garmin Edge 810. I made a mount for my Garmin closer to the manhole. I get good enough gps reception. Here is how I made it: www.saukki.com/2016/05/ratkaisu-huonoon-gps-vastaanottoon-solution-to-poor-gps-reception/
@325iaddict
@325iaddict 7 жыл бұрын
OK Saukki, thank you for so much info! The first in-depth review of that Wahoo made clear: "the app is basically needed to make it work...." was where I stopped immediately. I don't have a smart phone and don't plan to buy one too. In fact, the poor technology used to make those touch screens not reacting to finger nails is one of the main reasons for that. And here comes the reason I want to have the Garmin 810: it was the LAST one that used the (good!) resistive touch screen technology, that WILL react to finger nails. The 820 is the first of the new generation, that has a capacitive touch screen, just like the 1000. I tried the 1000: Its touch screen is completely unresponsive when I touch it with my finger(nails). So, I'll start looking for the 810, as it is running out fast, because it has been discontinued....
@325iaddict
@325iaddict 7 жыл бұрын
OK, got the Garmin 810 and mounted on the normal stud, even with the racing hood on, it keeps a rock solid connection with the satellites. During a 57km ride, not even one time I got the message that connection was lost... perfect!

As a Strada rider, I carry: one inner tube 20", one inner tube 26" wheel, puncture repare kit, allen keys folding knive, pomp, wallet, smart phone. Very important, a ANWB card, so I can call the automotive repair service "Wegenwacht" and they repair my velomobile, or tow my Strada to Dronten, to velomobiel.nl. And there are many bike rapair shop around. The Netherlands is a dense populated country.

I ride on Schwalbe Marathon Green Guard, so these tyres are well protected against puncture. Many fast velomobile riders choice soft tyres, without anti puncture protection, but pay the price of fixing a flat tyre. Not me.
@TheVelomobileChannel

That repair service sounds interesting. How much it cost if they repair or tow your velomobile?
@mardiffv.8775

A yearly fee of 26 Euro for the bike repair/ recovery service. On top of the car repair/ recorvery service of 150 Euro. When the "Wegenwacht" has to come, it cost nothing extra. All included.

For the drinking system I can recommend a CamelBak unbottle. You can easily hang the bag from aluminum tube behind the seat.

For pumping have you considered small pressured mini bottles? The pump takes the space of a air mattress.

Have you thought of fitting a hydro pack behind your seat. Run the tube over the seat, and use a peace of Velcro to hold it in place so you can drink without having to stop. They can hold up to 2 litres.

Two inners, patch kit for both inner AND outer tyres, chainlink, multitool, tyre levers. Usually beginning of the summer I put extra gel in there too and after the summer I scrape the dried up sugar from the saddlebag after the gel explodes in there ;D . . omat päivälenkit maantiepyörällä yleensä 60-90km välissä, en tunne tarvetta varapäällysrenkaille :D vaikka yhden maantierenkaan sivuvallin olenkin saanut rikottua 70km päässä kotoa. Vitosen setelillä saa korjattua, minkä takia sellainen on aina lenkeillä mukana lompakossa (siis se seteli taitetaan siihen reiän ja sisurin väliin :D). Kannattaa hommata noita paksumpia paikkoja siihen päällysrenkaan paikkaamiseen, painavat paljon vähemmän ja niillä kyllä pääsee kotiin saakka vaihtamaan uutta rengasta alle =)
@TheVelomobileChannel
@TheVelomobileChannel 7 жыл бұрын
Joo pitää ehkä vähän miettiä, että tarvinko oikeasti noin paljon paikkausvälineitä ja vararenkaita. Sitä vaan aina nakkaa tuonne kyytille kaikenlaista, kun sitä tilaa kerran on :)

Saukki Are the Quest wheels tubeless ready?
@TheVelomobileChannel
@TheVelomobileChannel 7 жыл бұрын
I don't think they are. But I've been thinking about the conversion to tubeless. But I haven't done it yet, because i think that it's toi much work to take the wheels of. But maybe I just have to try it sometime. Btw. I find it curious that everyone is wondering why I have so much sparetyres and tyre repair kits, but no one have commented anything about my heavy allen key set, with keys that I will never need or about my overkill rachet wrench set 😄

I don't pack as much. All three of my velomobile tires (Tripod velo.... link to picture below...) are the same 20", so I only carry one spare 20" tube. I have an all-in-one bicycle tool kit, diagonal cutters, pliers, a couple of wrenches, spare tiewraps and some spare wire for the power-assist electrics, water bottle(s) depending on the length of the ride like you, and the small style pump. The floor style pump you carry is MUCH better... i1064.photobucket.com/albums/u376/chashb/Peoples%20state%20forest%20ride1%206-5-15.jpg
