I feel that you told us to take so many things it filled up my entire suitcase and I haven’t even packed my clothes yet. This is disturbing. I have collapsible hangers something that hangs on the door for things that you put in pockets binocular you just saidto purchase one thing after the other and I did and now my entire suitcase is filled with all of the stuff and no place for clothes.

I will share a podiatrist tip with you. Especially when wearing sneakers or boots, you should alternate between two pairs. You wear one pair of sneakers today and a different pair of sneakers tomorrow. Giving your first pair of sneakers/boots 24 hours to totally dry out even if they did not get wet from water. Simply the moisture from your feet.

I just got off my first Alaska cruise 2 days ago. We had 2 sunny days (Ketchikan and Juneau) and it rained every other day. So definitely plan for rain! However, i packed too many thermals and hats (1 of each would have been sufficient). I also wish i had a pair of comfy slip on shoes that were neither my dressy flats nor my waterproof sneakers for casual ship days. I didn't bring enough short sleeve tshirts, but I bought plenty as souvenirs so that worked out nicely 😂.

We just got back from Alaska and we loved it up there! The large magnets (100 lb. with large hooks should need 12) work great for the shoe holder that you stated for the bathroom. The problem is that the door doesn't close then. If you use the magnets on the ceiling they will hold 100 lbs. the one we had had 3 holes for hooks and it worked great and it only took up a little wall space and was amazing for the small items! The clip magnets worked great for holding the papers for the days activities and port info! Binoculars are a must! With todays cell phones and the cameras they have you don't need to take your digital cameras! I got a sunrise at 3:30 am that was just stunning! Only take 1 coat that will keep you warm and light enough that it won't take up a lot of room in your suit case! Poncho is a must! And don't order the large bottles of water because even with a drink package you'll pay $5 a bottle. Now it's time to go to Australia for a 26 day cruise!

We really found your packing advice to be very helpful. We were very lucky. We do not have much of the rainwear and heavy jackets for Alaska as we live in Southern Arizona. my wife went to the local Goodwill store and found TWO Silverseas excursion 3 in 1 jackets that are used on Antarctic cruise expeditions.

Helpful video. Going on an Alaska cruise next week! Just wanted to share a tip I learned last year attending a Broncos game in Denver. It snowed 6 inches the morning of the game and was really cold. I didn't pack any thermal underwear, but I did have flannel pj bottoms. So I wore those under my jeans and my legs didn't get cold during game.

We just completed an Alaska cruise, too. The biggest way we cut back on volume was by buying HAL's unlimited laundry package. We had about three days traveling and visiting Vancouver before embarkation day, plus another four days after the cruise in Denali and Anchorage. With the laundry package, we could do all the pre-cruise laundry right away and also have all fresh clothing at the end of the cruise to cover our land portion. My favorite clothing was all comfy -- hoodies, t-shirts, leggings, joggers, a light vest, a fleece jacket. A light-weight raincoat that I could wear over the fleece or hoodies came in handy a lot -- mostly as a windbreaker, but also for the one torrential rain period we experienced when disembarking in Whittier. I wore my sneakers most of the time, but was glad to have the waterproof hiking shoes for some small hikes and when dog-sledding on a glacier (even though the company also gives you special waterproof boots that completely cover your own shoes).

There is a difference in the Alaskan cruises when you go early in the season as opposed to later in the season. Early is still quite chilly and more snow peaks. We went in September 2022 and it was warmer and the scenery more green and lush. 70’s warm. It was sunny but we were told it is usually more rainy. Still need the hat and light quilted jacket for glacier days. The closer you get to the glacier the chillier it gets. Layers is key. The hikers are an excellent suggestion.

Great video! I went on an Alaska cruise over 40 years ago (yikes! 😲) and we didn’t have the weather forecasting that is available today. My cruise was at the beginning of August and I packed things like you did for your May/June trip and found that I didn’t need sweaters or coats as it was mostly in the high 70s and sunny! LOL! I did wear my evening wear and luckily I had a few days planned stay in Vancouver before the cruise so had a few summer tops to wear with my jeans! All the locals in Alaska said that we brought the sun and good weather with us! Had a fabulous time and would go again tomorrow given the chance! Great tips on packing too! I got a lightweight fleeced lined Columbia waterproof jacket, which was a great alterative to a puffer jacket, even in the first week of May. Wore it over the teeshirt and fleece sweatshirt. I did bring thermals which I wore under waterproof (and lightweight) hiking pants. We sailed the Norwegian Bliss for 7 days 8/26 to 9/2 and now spending a few extras days in Seattle to rest and recover. My suggestion if you are an adrenaline junky (which I am not), do the Zip Rider at Icy Strait Point if it is in your budget. I did it, it was rainy and quite the thrill ride. All in all I loved the cruise and would definitely do it again in the future (I need more than 7 days for my next visit). I hope you enjoy your cruise as much as I did. Another great video - love Alaska. We are heading out for our 4th cruise this week. We do manage packing this in carry on but I am a very plain dresser. We no longer bring puffer jackets, instead a rain jacket is our top layer over fleece sweatshirts (1 each). Also we bring water resistant hiking pants rather than jeans because wet jeans are difficult to dry. All my bottoms are black and my tees can be rinsed in the shower and will dry overnight so my wardrobe is simple. Please remember to pack and wear sunscreen as even there you can get sunburned on beautiful days.

We got worried about our princess Cruise when we saw what happened to yours. Did they take care of you guys in the time you had to wait for them to do the repair? @@booshki I hope your cruise is wonderful!!! I have to say Princess did take care of us. It felt like one of those things in life. Where it felt like it was out of a lot of people's control and you just had to role with it. In the end, I didn't get my Alaska cruise but I did feel like Princess did above and beyond to make up for that. That said, we were on the ship the whole time, there was no luxury hotel. That said, it was totally fine. I already have booked my future cruise with them next summer, which is totally paid for from cruise credits. May your Alaska cruise be great. As much as I hear and see beautiful pictures and scenery I just can’t do an Alaska cruise! I’m from Chicago and I can’t stand cold weather and all that packing I don’t own a coat as I moved to South Texas 17 yrs ago. Maybe when we are older it will appeal to me.

Interesting. I am from Alberta and have been in South Texas for 13 years. My 2 sisters are in New Brunswick Canada. You would thimk they would come see me and enjoy warm weather. Nope we are meeting in Vancouver next weekend fof an Alaskan cruise. I had to purchase alot of long sleeved shirts and fleece as I have no use for them here.

Thanks for video - very helpful for my Alaska cruise in October. @all: So, I would need waterproof shoes only for my cruise (I live in South Pacific). Therefore I looked for an alternative solution and got it = waterproof and anti-slippery shoe covers. You find them from brands online or at sport shops in many colours. For example: I have found the perfect covers (orange on top / black on bottom) in proshop at my golfclub. Important: Covers should be made of 100% waterproof silicone. Hope, this advice is useful. Greetings from Moorea 🌴🏖😎🇵🇫🇫🇷🇪🇺

Winters are not horrible. There's so much you can do: skiing (downhill and cross-country), snowboarding, skating, building snowmen, snowshoeing, skijorring, etc. A lot of places have winter carnivals full of activities! 🏂⛷️☃️⛸️

We will be taking an Alaska cruise in 2024 on Holland America. The same ship you were in. My husband, myself and my adult daughter will be sharing a cabin. Not sure if we should just get a balcony room or upgrade to a suite. Just to add we have camped together for years, so sharing a small space is fine. However this is a once in a lifetime and maybe worth the splurge of a suite. Thanks

If you can do it you won’t regret it. Another option is an inside cabin across the hall from the balcony cabin

I thought the Level8 luggage looked very interesting - until I saw the delivery charges! US$150 for purchase under $200, US$250 for purchases under $300, and up to US$500 for more expensive items. If Level8 are ever wondering why they don’t sell much luggage to us constantly-travelling Australians, it’s because any of us who can afford to spend that kind of money for a bag will go for a premium brand, while the rest of us will stick to the affordable name brands we can buy locally.
@LifeWellCruised

I’m not sure about the delivery outside of the North America, which I believe is often free. I’m sure it’s frustrating that some items that are sold in the US are pricey to ship to Australia

‘A hat’ what’s that? I’m 🇨🇦 it’s a toque 😂. Also, fleece is too bulky and absorbs water. A good alternative is wool, cashmere, silk or a combo of those. A 2pc set of silk long underwear is super thin and can be worn under anything eliminating all the bulky stuff.

We have sailed mostly on NCL. I hate dressing up so freestyle dining works for me/us. My question is on packing; my wife likes the roll-up method, to me who packs t-shirts, underwear, a pair of jeans and a pair of shorts and maybe 1 or 2 polo shirts. To me flat packing with minimal folds "seems" to be more space efficient. Any thoughts either way? BTW: you do have a lot of helpful hints on your channel - THANKS! I did like your mention of Level 8 stuff, I'm going to look into them a bit more.
