Good video, May I suggest: 1. Sports, light weight, sweat wicking t-shirt. At times you need it for water activities or hiking, etc long sleeve wld be great. Plenty of mosquitoes and leeches. 2. Normal marino wool t-shirt for slightly formal occasions. Marino wool is warmer and cooling depending on ambient temperature, and anti-odour. Can wear it many times before wash. 3. The jacket size is still too big & heavy. Get something lighter with warmer rating. AC Is cold but not that cold. 4. You can get away without a rain jacket. Just get a rain cover that only cost a dollar and weigh nothing. It’s nothing fancy. But no one here in Southeast Asia owns a rain jacket unless if you bike. With our rain, rain jacket is useless too. Carry an umbrella instead. 5. The number of socks is overkill. You do not need thick socks anyway. 1-2 pair is good enough. In fact 1 pair is enough. Get a pair of sports compression socks. That will keep your feet healthy with all the walking. Sports socks also are durable and easy to wash and air dry. With the temperature & humidity, Compression/sports socks are great as they are sweat wicking. Your feet can breathe. Don’t go for anything woolly. FYI, most of us wear shoes, even sneakers without socks. Don’t be afraid to ditch socks here. Socks are so American. People can spot you as a tourist from a mile. 6. Yes, the fan is a luxury item. But it’s a godsend necessity. 7. Bugs spray. 8. Hat and sunglasses. The sun is scorching here. Don’t be afraid to use umbrella. You will not look crazy. 9. Other than those you pretty much covered everything else well. Good choice of flip flop. 10. Lastly, to everyone else reading here, wear a smile and try to learn the local language. You’ll go far when you learn basic phrases. Taste the local food and go to non-touristy sites. Oh ya, don’t worry about what’s in your pack. You can buy most of the stuffs here too. In fact some of them are quite cheap. That’s the beauty of travels. Just ask the locals, don’t be a tourist. Be a local and you gain much more. Do come to Malaysia, btw!
@jordan.h6821Ай бұрын
You agree that the fan is good to carry?
@roughrosaАй бұрын
@@jordan.h6821 You can do without . It’s a nice to have/luxury item if travel ultralight is your goal. It makes sense if you intend to walk a lot, USB powered fan or this 🪭. But if your travel is centered around taking Grab or public transport, then I don’t think it’s necessary. Do outdoorsy stuff early morning and evening, avoid 12.- 4 time of the day, the sun can be scorching. But nothing that an ice drink can’t cool you down. This time of year, it’s approaching monsoon, so it rains a lot and most days are overcast.

BTW - The only other thing that I'd recommend making sure that you take with you on a journey is 2 pens. Keep on on your person at all time,s and pack the other away in a ziplock bag for an emergency. Can't tell you how many times I've forgotten a pen which created real problems when trying to fill out customs forms at the end of a long flight. Hope this helps someone :-)

On my travels not only do I have a few pens, but I take along index cards. Before I leave my home country I write my itinerary down and important phone numbers, flight information , hotel information, directions and just general notes. They come in handy so you don’t have to pull your cell phone out all the time. Index cards fit in your shirt or jacket pocket.

Like a linen long sleeve for sun protection when outside/boat trips. interesting way of packing :D your bag/backpack is amazing! I do it a bit different, but in all I take pretty much the same things, but f.e. not a water purifier, normally you can fill up your own bottle at almost any place. But I even had the fan, because my old Laptop heated up like crazy. you can buy one f.e. in Hanoi for 5 $, so no need to bring it to Asia. sink stopper! never heard about this before! must have. I used the dustbin sometimes to do small laundry. Did I miss it or did you forget a torch? and may be you take some Aspirin (ASS) and Ibuprofen, in Asia in many countries is only Paracetamol (Panadol) available, and that is not good for every case of pain. Diclofenac could also be useful as pill or as gel if you have some accident. but don't carry around half of a pharmacy. most things you can buy everywhere. very good, your packing list!

I just did 7 months in Se Asia. But i drove allover. No plain, train or buses. 23000 km. i was not dress warm enough so i had miserable time in Laos and didn't go to north Vietnam because too rainy and cold. I don't know where you sleept because rooms without AC are rare and if so, they will all have a fan. A mosquitoes net is essential and i always carry emergency gears for camping. i only used twice but if someone doesn't need a shower every night and wants to travel really cheap, a hamac and a wind breaker will be useful because i notice there are many many abandon houses or shacks or shelters one can squat for a night for free along roads.. I don't plan to ever go back. Once has been enough. But i m glad to have done it. Thail;and, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Cambodia again, Thailand again, Myanmar, and Thailand again.
