Fantastic! Glad it is useful, I had a quick look at the snowdonia mandatory equipment list and it is almost identical as what my video provides. Best of luck in your Snowdonia 100M! Some beautiful trails when I hiked parts of it a few years ago. Hope to hear how it went a month from now! =)

Thanks for your comment!! I've packed a few times but still got confused a lot...so figured a more systematic way of packing will help myself and everyone. Glad to see the feedback that it's useful!!

Packing tip. I put my polypro thermals in individual zip lock bags, almost fully close the zip, then kneel on it to get all air out before zipping the final bit
@RunThatMile2 жыл бұрын
Great tip!! Squeeze every bit of air to compact the bag. Just watch out when taking stuff from the backpack, the smaller individual zip lock bags might fall out.🙂

@jonathangrendelmeier5752 жыл бұрын
Hi Brian , only a few days to go so I hope you get this in time. Still feeling my injuries so it will be an interesting experience :-) Regarding the food items that you mentioned. I have packed lots of sachets with liquid calories and as I am expecting around 24 hours it has built up to be really heavy. When I look at you and your surrounding runners in the third wave the packs look a lot lighter. Have only a few gels but some bars and lots of sachets for liquid (powder to be dissolved). What do you think?
@RunThatMile2 жыл бұрын
@@jonathangrendelmeier575 Hi Jonathan, so glad to hear from you again! Can't believe it's been a year already and it's almost coming up for you, exciting!! There are a few options... 1. Do the math and take whatever you need, there's no competition for the smallest bag. 2. The aid stations provide electrolyte drinks so you could dedicate one water bottle for that and save some weight on the sachets. 3. The salt sticks (tablets in the video) should provide all the electrolyte needs, all you would need should then be water. You could consider carrying less than necessary if you have been double counting your nutrition needs. 4. I actually brought quite a lot of power gels but my stomach couldn't handle it after 4 or 5 (too acidic?), and I didn't take any for the second half. I find the solid food is more important, and there's plenty at the aid stations with plenty of time to absorb... You might not need as much quick calories as you think. (Not a fast road marathon) Not really a solid solution, but hope this helps your thinking... I'm happy to answer follow up questions too to focus down on a solution. In terms of your injury, I guess my only advice is to take things slowly. I have a spreadsheet in my tips for UTMB video to figure out how much time you can take to beat the cutoffs. It's not as fast as you expect and that might sooth your mind a bit so you can take care of the injury and enjoy the race! Chamonix also has stores for supports that may help your injury during the race which you can consider. Good luck and look forward to hear about your race!!!
@maidbe5 ай бұрын
Thank you for neatly organized bag! And for unmistakable guide to gear check and packing, love this! One quick question, maybe you'll know, are the waterproof gloves available at Chamonix? If so, do you know the price range? I'm no longer in position to order them online and wait for the delivery.
@RunThatMile5 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment! Yes all the gear can be found in Chamonix and are at a reasonable price. It's not going to be the dirt cheap on sale types, but I wouldn't stress paying a good price for a quality pair which would be available in the main streets of Chamonix.
@louislee12692 жыл бұрын
attractive video even for nonrunner like me. already searching for gear on taobao
@RunThatMile2 жыл бұрын
Great to hear!!! Don't use taobao 😅! They are available on Amazon and their own company websites at a reasonable price.
@macau.friend6 ай бұрын
Thx for the video! Starting to get my gear ready for the race. 1) Can a combination of cap and buff replace a Sahara cap as heatwave gear? 2) How big is the waterproof bag for your clothing? 6L? Bigger? 3) Do you keep all your gels in the outside pockets or inside?
@RunThatMile6 ай бұрын
1) I believe that would work. 2) I used some 3L ones but the bags are light so even if you got a bigger one, it should be fine. 3) I kept my gels in the outside pockets for easy access...I tried not to plan to reorganize my bag midway through the race. But it's up to you. Good luck and all the best to your race!!!

Possible to leave fleece or down jacket in drop bag at Champex lac so i don't have to carry in the first half?is there any gear check in CP?
@RunThatMile Жыл бұрын
Mandatory gear must be carried at all times and there could be spot checks at any point during the race. There is no drop bag at Champex Lac. For the full UTMB, there is a drop bag service at Courmayeur. However, one assistant may be allowed in to Champex Lac to help you. For more details, you can refer to montblanc.utmb.world/races-runners/other-information/mb-regulations
