I used to carry one of those little hand pumps and the time I needed it most it would not work, tore it apart put oil on the seals and nothing, now I carry a 12 volt pump that plugs into my batt tender/heated liner jack and have fixed dozens of tires with it, I had 3 rear flats in the same day on the TAT, sitting on the side of a hot highway without any shade. I was very grateful that I didn't have to use the little very very slow hand pump. The other thing I would suggest is to get a Battery booster pack, a real life saver when your buddy has a dead KTM with a recluse often....

I just baught my dual sport a 2021 Honda xr650l. Ordered Nelson Rigg saddle bags and tail bag. Still need a dry bag. I can’t wait to go camping for the 1st time on it. Think I will try to strap on a kodiak canvas tent.
@moorepower13

My advice is with dry bags is to set them up to dump your gear into and then you can just dump it out for that activity. House set up dump out the house bag. Cooking dump out the kitchen bag at the cooking area.

I’m one of those guys that brings too much stuff. At least 2 lights, sucks if you bring one and something happens to it. Also lots of water, that camel pack would probably last me the ride to the camping spot before it’s empty. It’s hot here in Hawaii. Fishing stuff is a must.

@skrabill
@skrabill 3 жыл бұрын
The tent is standing up in the dry bag and the ground cloth is slid right along side it. The ground cloth slides out first, followed by the tent and the tent poles. There isn't anything on top of them to prevent them from coming out first. Maybe I'll make a video out in the woods of me actually pulling gear out and setting up camp one of these days.

I have a DR650. I use a Nelson Right tail and saddle bags. I also use a Chase Harper barrel bag that I put on the handel bars.... I usually CAN'T WAIT to get all the stuff off of the bike when I get there. All the extra weight make the ride terrible, along with aggressive Dunlup 606 tires. But I can from riding sports bikes. Blackburn Anyvalve MTB pump. I originally bought it for my mountain bike because of its high-volume capacity and durable construction . . . and the fact that it works on both Schrader and Presta valves so well. Have to disagree with you on the air pump. Two is one and one is none. The seals in that hand pump could go out just as easy as the motor in an electric pump. I carry an electric pump and a 5ft section of air hose with a chuck clamped on each end. That way if the electric pump goes out worst case scenario I can drain half the air out of one of my tires and put it in the other. I usually don't air down my tires so even at half pressure I'm still more than enough to ride on for a short sprint.
@skrabill
@skrabill 3 жыл бұрын
A lot of riders bring a lot of things they wind up never using. I bring exactly what I need and nothing else. If you are the type of rider who is more comfortable bringing multiple air pumps, then by all means pack them. I have found one to be sufficient for all of the riding and traveling I have ever done.

hey how you going to change those tubes without tyre levers?,and really bud you should bring a knife,for many jobs,cutting a bit of fuel hose,etc,or carving tyre levers /wedges.etcand one of the best items i take for comfort to relax is an army hammock that doubles as a fishing netit is the size of a tennis ball.,i use a 2 kilo tent,but that hammock is just bliss,i use an xr 400r in Scotland UK for camping up mountain trails, been doing this since i was street legal at 16,had many diff bikes,been around the Alps too,ans norway, happy trails .

It all depends on how far into the wilderness you are going, how remote. The bike itself: Tuareg is 430# light and has more clearance so less break downs, plus suspension that makes the day much more enjoyable, and it has power.. I don't carry a stove unless it's winter and I want to fill a hot water bottle and cook. The SOL reflective personal bivy is small and a concession to safety. Tubeless, plugs, C02 (no levers, no tools). Tools, you can't tell which ones you will need and once you start the pile gets very heavy, very quickly. I've always found a way without carrying tools (broken peg, center stand, fender (gorilla HD epoxy)). Pocket knife, headlamp, flip flops, multiple water containers in case one fails (especially in heat/dessert), couple energy gels (in case).
