Hi darlings! In today's blend of art tutorial & studio vlog (and maybe ASMR? 😆), I'll be showing you a behind-the-scenes look at an important part of how I run my online store - packaging orders, how to ship art prints (I use USPS), and what shipping supplies I use (both flat envelopes and in tubes). Hopefully these tips can help you guys with your online business and help you sell art online. 😘 Thanks for watching!
xoxo,
Happy
PS - Speaking of online shops, I used to use Etsy, am currently using Squarespace, but I've been thinking about switching to Shopify. Have you guys had experience with it? What is your favorite e commerce platform? 😊

Thank you very much for this video. It was informative and to the point. I've seen so many artists on KZbin drone on and on about unrelated things, probably in an attempt to get the video length to the mythical optimal time to maximize their visibility through KZbins algorithm. Your's was brilliant. I'm now a subscriber! Good luck and stay creative.

This was super informative!! I just have one question, for shipping the flat envelope internationally, I noticed that USPS has quite a distinct pricing difference between envelopes that can "bend" vs "rigid". And I was wondering when you put the chip board, are you still able to get the lower price? Because it seems a rigid large envelope costs approx. twice as much as a letter envelope. Any help would be super helpful as I've been trying to understand this for a while. :)

This was very informative, so thank you! 😊✨ I‘m currently informing myself about using less plastic and was wondering if you would consider using less/no plastic for packaging your orders? I understand you have to make sure the prints arrive safely, but maybe there are good alternatives. ☺️ If you are interested in this and find out something I would love to see a video about it. Sending love, your art is so beautiful. 💓

I know of an artist that instead of plastic sleaves she Buys a Large roll of tracing paper and then cuts it to the size of the order its a beautiful alternative because The Tracing paper acts like a veil where in the painting is slightly concealed and tracing paper goes really well with paper envelopes and twine I do hope they develop stronger paper envelopes or Biodegradable packaging materials. Since its a one time use material making it biodegradable is great but it does need to conceal moisture and protects the work like Plastic does I hope somebody finds something like that

Doing in-house shipping seems like a LOT of work. I’d imagine with total control, you can add lots of personal touches (like a surprise free sticker, perhaps 😉) and be intimately connected with what you’re shipping. You may have answered this before and maybe I just don’t remember, but have you ever considered porting your stuff over to someone else to print/ship for you? Being able to cut out that middle man would save you money on that specific front, but do you notice that you lose a ton of time and space to shipping? Plus, doesn’t laser ink cost a lot?

You can do both. But it’s expensive to get the initial set-up to make prints at home, so if you’re not really selling a lot just get them made somewhere. I personally use staples. I take the clearest picture I can of my canvas paintings using my phone camera. You crop everything out so it’s just the painting in the picture, go to document printing, upload it on staples website and just order. I use the 8pt glossy cardstock paper for my order and they turn out great!
