I still shrink-wrap my soap as many people handle my soaps, I feel that it keeps them clean from handling and dust, but I do wait to wrap them after the 4-6 weeks after making them. I can still smell them when they are wrapped so each to there own :)

Thanks for sharing! And thanks for being part of the conversation! Yes, to each their own, just know that it is not necessary if you want to simplify!

I shrink wrap if I'm mailing them. I received a package of soap that didn't fit in my mailbox, so it was left on my porch (under the mailbox - no coverage), and it rained. 😐 The soaps were all damp. That experience led to my decision to shrink wrap when shipping.

Same :) I love my shrink wrap system! My wholesale customers actually prefer it!

Thank you so much! I’m considering making soap as a retirement plan hopefully in 2026. I’m on developing my recipes stage. I was considering wrapping my soaps after the 6 week drying period because I was worried about dust. Maybe my mind hasn’t realized that the product may move quickly. Thank you, taking notes from your content.

Maybe talk to a few friends about what they think about goat milk soap, or handmade soap in general to see what the interest is, even there. I suspect you won't have to worry about dust!

I'm just starting in the soap making, first as a hobby and therapy, found out how much I enjoy, and now I'm planning to start selling in the farmers market of my town. This video came in very handy 👌 Thank you very much, sweet lady 😊

Thank you so much for sharing this! I never realized that you needed an address on the labels and you really had me thinking of ways to go about this. I've never sold before but was thinking about it since it is so fun for me. Dont why youtube threw you my way but i am so glad and you've gotten a new subscriber! I did read that there was a possibility that there would be a change in the address requirements for next year(2025), fingers crossed!

This video just popped up on my feed. I enjoyed it very much. I will be watching more of your videos. I am just starting out in soap making. I put the soaps I give to family and friends in a small cardboard box that has a little window on them. Does that let them dry out any. Thanks again for this and all your videos.
@brbgoatmilksoapАй бұрын
Yep, that should be fine! I'm sure they look great that way!
@RichardHicks-vk3vbАй бұрын
@brbgoatmilksoap yes that way they can see them and they can smell them through the box. I'm on a binge watching your other videos. I really enjoy them. You give a lot of helpful information. Thanks again and stay safe.

How can I make my cold process soap leave moist on the hair after shower?
@brbgoatmilksoapАй бұрын
Sounds like you need a new recipe. Find one with coconut oil, castor oil, and/or shea butter. Also goat milk is a great option!

Hi good video, just a little detail- in your green tea soap you are missing WATER in your label requirement 😉
@brbgoatmilksoapАй бұрын
There is actually a good reason for that... we don't use water in our soap. "wink" So to put water on our label would actually be untrue. If you want to learn how to make goat milk soap using just goat milk, here is a link to our class we host most Monday's... it's only $27, and we would love to have you! shop.brbgoatmilksoap.com/live-goat-milk-soapmaking-class/

I just shared actual emails with Marie Gale - the foremost expert on soap and cosmetic labeling in the U.S. - and you actually cannot put "saponified oils of" on your label. You must use an "in the pot label" on your products meaning whatever you put into the pot to make your soap MUST be on the label. Saponified oils is misleading so your label must say sodium hydroxide so there is no confusion for the consumer.
@brbgoatmilksoapАй бұрын
If that is true, I am elated! It pained me to have to say that you could use the words "saponified oils" in your labeling, but I was told differently! More research needed! Thanks for pointing that out! And ABSOLUTELY...if you want more than a beginner's-level look at labeling, check out Marie's KZbin videos! She is amazing and so knowledgeable!

I just read there are no requirements except identification, weight oz & g, and place of manufacture per FPLA website. If your soap is classified as a cosmetic, then you must include ingredients.
@countryblends2 күн бұрын
@@ellenrousseau2026 I agree!As long as your bars are specifically labeled as SOAP, you are NOT required to list your ingredients. I have been a soapmaker for 40+ years and had a website for quite some time. I often choose to list them - but I don’t have to. Some of the best labeling should include that your soaps are paraben and phthalate free. I also include if any nut oils were used in the making of the soap as some people are highly allergic. I also will label to highlight the use of special ingredients in my bars (ie. colloidal oatmeal, kaolin clay, aloe, tussah silk, etc.). Just my 2 cents worth 😁
