Superb work really...can you please describe how the final finish looks like...matte or satin-ish?...is the surface glare free with these acrylic paints?...What if one uses chalk paint instead of acrylic?
@HijabsandAprons4 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for watching! The finish is matte (especially because of the sealant spray which I applied at the end of each surface. My light gray surface has a very soft sheen to it because I used metallic white paint to create my base color. It is matte in finish (not glossy) but has a PEARLESCENT sheen to it at certain angles. I hope that makes sense. I deliberately provided photo examples for each surface at the end of the video so that viewers can see how the surface looks in various lighting. Please check that out too! Hm...I wouldn't use chalk paint, as it will likely be easily scratched depending on the sealant you use. If you already have some on hand, give it a try by testing a small patch to see how it dries on your board. I hope this helps!!!
@sharadsingh6354 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the detailed explanation...yes i did observe the pics displayed in the video...there is a slight sheen..but it is well controlled..there are no specular highlights in your backgrounds when shot using flashes....this is just what i want too..smooth silky and creamy...i have been struggling a bit with acrylic paints to get rid off that specularity...i tried chalk paint today...it gives a hard core rough matte texture...no sheen whatsoever at any angle....but then as you said the durability is questionable...i think i will try and mix equal parts of acrylic and chalk paint...maybe that will help...lets see...

Absolutely thanks for the sharing this! Amazing! I am going to create one for myself - but I have a question. Do you dry layers in-between operations? Or you e.g. do the second coat immediately after the first?
@HijabsandAprons2 жыл бұрын
You're welcome! Because I use acrylic paint, the layers dry fairly quickly. But yes, definitely wait until each layer is completely dry before continuing on to the next layer. This works when using wall paint as well 👍🏼
@rudolffamiev21882 жыл бұрын
@@HijabsandAprons Thanks! The first one gone not as I wanted, but still usable... :) So will try to improve the skills more with the next one. The real craft is to do the texture... And also - as I used the PLY - it has some cracks on the surface and made some bulges as well, as I made the first coat... I am not impressed with that. Will try the MDF for the next one.

@HijabsandAprons3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Do you intend on using the canvas as a roll out sheet for food photo backgrounds/surfaces? I don't know how well the paint would last over time if you intend to roll it up to store when not in use.

@HijabsandAprons4 жыл бұрын
Hey! I mixed the green with some white but I don't recommend doing that because it *might* bring out more blue tones. I had to go over it with a layer of just the dark green to fix the blue tones. I have linked all the paint colors in the description of the video. Do check it out!! 🤗

Isn't it easier to use paint brush instead of sponges?
@HijabsandAprons4 жыл бұрын
Actually paint brushes tend to leave more streaks which is why I prefer sponges. You can definitely use a brush to apply the base layer though! I recommend using a sponge for texture though, or a really worn out bristled brush. Thank you for watching!!
