Finally a scale model channel from Australia. Have you used primers such as from Tamiya and Mr finishing surfacer? I'm interested in if you can compare these to the SCA primer you use?

Na, i came from an Auto painting background so kinda skipped all the model brand primers etc, i went with SMS paint because it was similar to what i was using already and can use it with the other paints i have already.

Are you able to do a video on how you came to choose your combination of primer/paint/clear coat. You said that you have a background in spray painting so were able to work out what combination to use. For instance the primers from hobby shops are very expensive but you've managed to figure out to use SCA primer which is relatively cheap.

Hi mate, sorry for the late reply, i have learnt spray painting from my Dad who owned a panel shop for many years. With the SMS paint it is pretty much automotive acrylic paint, it is now called base coat in the automotive industry, but is different to the acrylic touch up style paint you buy at places like supercheap as the spray cans are designed to be the last layer without a clear coat, SMS is designed to have a clear coat as it sprays out with a matt finish to allow clear to bond to it, with this type of base coat any kind of acrylic primers will work under it, also the 2k clear is the same as Auto 2k Clear so it is designed to go over the Base coat (SMS) SMS is a great option a bottle you can buy is enough to do a whole model, the 2k clear kits will paint maybe 5 bodies as you just mix what you need each time. Yes I tend to think the hobby brand primers tend to get expensive, using the SCA etc brands allows you to use a bit more which helps when you wet sand before paint to get the body smoother and fill small imperfections body work etc. Hope this helps..

G.Day Morrie, one thing I forgot to ask you, Have you ever done anything like Making and Resin parts yourself for your customs? see it on stateside vids here, but hell I went onto E-Bay to a modellers Page and before I knew it I wanted almost $200 dollars worth, Surely we can make our own? I know, I am sorry for calling you Shirly!

I have done a bit of casting, i want to do more in the future, i can be expensive to buy the materials you mess up a bit learning to make molds, so you have to be selective in the parts you cast. Some mates bought 3d resin printers which seam to be the way to go but are just under $500 and you will need decent computer skills to use and tweak sizing etc.

Hey Morrie! I would value your opinion on stripping paint off models! Tried the DETTOL and was rather UNDERWHELMED!

Soak in a container of Brake fluid over night, scrub off with a tooth brush, replete if needed.

Tried oven cleaner last night, now model smells like a roast Chook, Just tried Nail Polish remover this morning, nope, missus not happy as she is now out of polish remover! HEHEHE. I told her if she's a good girl I will let her take me to SPOTLIGHT tomorrow! will get some brake fluid when we go into the big smoke, well its a town really! hehe As I said I like your work and no nonsense attitude, your a tight arse just like me! at least we will never DROWN HEY?

Conner Sewer yeah it’s just a hobby so i try to keep it cheap and save my money for bigger toys and holidays. As paint removal, don’t use nail polish remover as it will eat the plastic, oven cleaner works but it’s pretty toxic and just stinks way to much.

You don't seem to use any PPE or spray booth when spraying. Is that because you use acrylics?

I just don’t use my mask when i’m making a video, i don’t have a spray booth as i usual just paint outside or in my Garage, and the bench is right under a window.
