How to paint a 6 panel door by hand

2 things to add, keep a cloth damp with white spirit nearby. If when doing the inset mouldings you encroach onto the panel, wipe it away quick otherwise it will start to dry and become noticeable when later on you paint over it when painting the panel, the same when doing the panels if it encroaches onto its neighbour, this door is easier though because there are clear lines. Clean the very top of the door, is usually covered in dust and fluff that the brush will pick up !!!

I paint mine with a gloss roller, it's much quicker. I haven't got the patience to brush them. They always look nice when finished too.

Nylox is best used with woodstains, it doesn't really hold any paint. It's a show pony of a brush for me...just my opinion Been painting 45 years.

you don't leave roller texture on a door or any trim. you can roll and back brush

To me, a brush painted door just looks more like home. I have done it both ways, but with a roller it has no character, it still looks like a steel door.

its easier and cheaper to just replace the door than paint it a standard color like white...
