Thank you for the video! Can a gesso board be reused by painting over another layer of gesso on it?

I'm so glad you asked! So because gesso is not oil-based, you cannot reapply gesso after you've put any oil paint on the board! You can, however, paint back over it using an oil ground, but there may be some concerns about how archival that would be, so I typically try not to recycle panels.

What is a good surface like that to learn to paint on? I don't know what to buy to practice on like that canvas or something.

Honestly? I'd first go with something that you don't mind wasting at all! That's most important. But the next step from there really depends on the style you want to explore. Some styles (like mine) work best with a non-absorbent surface like gessoboard or oil primed linen, but that's not universally applicable. I think this is where a mentor can truly come in really handy!
