Yes! You are not limited to a heat gun. A hairdryer will definitely work as well. You'll definitely want to use the heat source of choice at a relatively low heat setting, nothing too hot, and keep it at a good distance.

All you need is acrylic paint. It wont come off and you don't need the extra mixing techniques. The jacket is still a lovely piece tho. I just wouldn't waste my leather paint on denim truthfully.

@@brandino2325 No it wont crack. Eventually it will fade a bit just like a t-shirt from a store. But it definitely wont crack. I have plenty of items I've made and washed them repeatedly and they look exactly the same as when I created them. There really is no such thing as a permanent stay. But there's much you can do to make the quality last alot long. This video has great techniques. Yet theres absolutely no need to waste your leather paint on jeans or jacket. Now if it were a leather jacket. I probably would use this method. For common clothing this is very much unnecessary. Give it try with both ways. His and mine. The results will be good regardless. The method shown on this video would be more interesting to test out, but not so much to say its a better way of getting the job done. Feel free to ask me more G.

@@brandino2325 If you use thick layers or too may layers the more likely it will crack. When using angelus paints compared to normal acrylic I can see the difference. The angelus paint is more flexible and the reason why it lasts longer. I paint more on leather jackets now but always use angelus because I want to give my customers the best product. And I have seen normal acrylic paint to crack.

Some artists use 2-soft for the last layers and some do not. It is personal preference when it comes to that. However, as long as you apply 2-soft and paint first then you should not come out too stiff. You also want to make sure you do not apply too many coats if you do not use 2-soft for the remaining layers.

Adding 2-Soft to the paint is the most important part of painting denim and other fabrics. The paint should hold up and last without a problem. For some protection against water and dirt, try our Water and Stain Repellent.

You can start on cheap shoes to study, and practice, but of course it's always better to know how to manipulate a pen or a brush before you start. Still, you can find some easy designs out there that doesn't require a huge drawing level and looks really cool, if you're not good at drawing there is always one way to cheat ! It should be safe to machine wash on cold or hand washing the jacket is fine too. As long as the paint was prepped and applied correctly with 2 Soft then you shouldn't have any issues. It could depend on the color you're using and how well the surface is absorbing the paint. Most likely start with a god base coat with 2 Soft, heat set and then work up to just the paint itself to fill everything and give it the solid color.

There is no harm in that. Just make sure to have a towel or something in between so that you do not melt the paint or item.

The reason they may be doing that is to heatset the paint/GAC 900. When working with a fabric medium like GAC 900 or our Angelus 2-Soft it is required to heatset to activate the medium to insure the paints will adhere and the fabrics doesn't harden. For best results, we suggest to Heat-set using a heatgun at 300º F for 3-5 minutes.

The water & stain repellent can be used as an extra sealant. However, it wears off after 2-3 weeks so it must be reapplied. Remember, all our paints have a little bit of finisher in it. So adding a finisher and/or water & stain repellent is totally optional.
