I’m an abstract artist but became interested in dot mandala painting when I saw how peaceful it looks. You explain everything so beautifully and I can hardly wait to start. Thank you 🙏🏼
@TheDottingCenter4 жыл бұрын
I was a realist painter that always wanted to find an abstract way of painting where I could use whatever color I wanted. It’s this. ❤️🎨 You’ll love it! I bet you’ll find ways to incorporate dotting into your existing style of painting.

Hi Rachel , I am a beginner at dotting, but I'm absolutely hooked. I have just watched all three parts of your tutorial and just want to thank you so much. Here in England, I've struggled to find the right paints, so I really appreciate your guidance on using pouring medium and adding white for opacity. I also learned alot about swooshes and how to create them so neatly. I love the way you create harmonious gradations by adding a little white every time- I shall certainly be adopting that idea. By happy chance, I seem to have most of the tools you use, but I hadn't realised that I can use my silicone -tipped blenders for dotting. I cant wait to try out all my (your) new ideas! Thank you again. Lynne Smith

I'm so happy for you that you found dotting! You'll love it. Enjoy your new hobby. Btw- I've heard Cadence paints are amazing and they're available in England. I can't get them here in the US. You may want to try those 👍✨

I only use a limited range of paints. I am really good at mixing colours. So for me it's cyan, magenta, yellow, titanium white, mars black and silver as main colours. I also have phthalo blue, vermilion red, and a set of secondary colours my husband got me (two greens, purple, and an orange ocher). As an ideal I like to use two or three base colours, and three to four tints of each with 0% white, 20% white, 50% white and 70% white. You can use anything round for the dots. I mostly use the flat round ends of different sized crochet hooks. I've seen people use the back end of a set of drill bits from the $2 shop.

I just purchased canvases, acrylic paint (Arteza 60 colors), stencils and the tools. I found a couple of great sets with both large and small dotting tools. I’m not quite sure how to use the stencils in dotting. I only know how to use them for painting with a brush or sponge painting. Thanks for the video. I can’t wait to get into this. I love crochet and diamond painting but sometimes I need something new.
@TheDottingCenter4 жыл бұрын
You can use the stencils with a sponge! You can dot on top of a sponged stencil. You’ll love dotting 💜

Love this tutorial! I hadn’t thought I needed silicone tools in my toolbox but bought this stencil and the blue tipped silicone tool set from your shop. I really like that flat tool. I’m working on the torus pattern now but trying to color match since I don’t have Arteza. I really like the shaped dots and will definitely work the petal shapes into my other works. Thanks for all the good ideas!

Oh boy, I already have a spiral stencil & never thought of flipping it to make a torus, duh!!! Thank you so much, and especially for explaining the paint mix to make those lovely raised dots I strive for but seldom achieve. I shall start to collect some Golden brand heavy bodied paints and get out the trusty Liquitex.
