Hi, thank you! I have never painted with airbrush, but I've done t-shirts with regular stencil brush and acrylics and it works great. You can easily stencil with a brush right on fabric, rollers work too but I prefer brushes fro fabric.I am sure you can combine techniques and get fabulous results! Sometimes I would paint fine details with a watercolor brush or a script liner - it all works :) ~Janna

Thank you! Yes, with stencils it's just so much faster, but I love free handing too :) I often combine stenciling with some free-handing, just to keep it fun and artistic. Janna

Definitely! You can stencil on many surfaces, furniture, wood, rugs, (sisal ones work best), glass and fabric. Stencils work best on a flat surface or lightly textured one. If the surface has too much texture, stencils might not be the best choice. For glass use special paints for glass painting.

I was watching Tangled. In one of the scene I was taken a back by its creativity. I went online and began to research Stencils, where your site came up. I am pleased and have interest. I will communicate when I am at that stage in my home decor. Thank you.

Your explanations are great!!! Very easy to understand.... I have a question: I used to paint t-shirts with an airbrush, do you think I can do this ALL with an airbrush or start with the rollers and touch up with an airbrush??? Thanks...

I really want to do this! What colors is the wall and how was that accomplished?
@CuttingEdgeStencils9 ай бұрын
Hi, The wall was skimmed with a cement texture product called Versiplast. durock.ca/designerfinish/ And then stained with a diluted acrylic wash in a slate blue color. You could try other cement/texture products as well, just make a sample first. Good Luck!

@Salnsd Thanks! :) We are showing the stenciling technique only in this video. It works great over any plaster, faux finish or even flat paint. We love how it works over a troweled and stained plaster finish, it really resembles frescoes, especially after you lightly sand the surface in the end to "age" it.

Isn't acrylic waterbased and would eventually wash off? Is it not effevtive to use hpuse paint?
@CuttingEdgeStencils Жыл бұрын
Hi, Waterbased paints don't wash off once they have dried. That would be called water soluble. House paints work great! Happy Stenciling
@CuttingEdgeStencils12 жыл бұрын
Yes, of course the real traditional fresco is exactly painting on wet plaster. Here we are showing a Faux fresco technique with stencils which gives you a fresco look without the difficulty of the wet plaster technique!

which color we should use and can we wash wall
@jannamakaeva17928 жыл бұрын
+hina naz you can use any colors that fit your decorating scheme. In the video i am showing the colors that I am using for this particular blue fresco, but you can use other colors as well. It looks really good done in yellow/ochre/earth tones. We prefer craft acrylic paint, which can be gently washed when fully dry, however I would not recommend washing the walls with any aggressive cleaner or scuba them too much as this will most likely damage your artwork. Hope this helps!

Stunning! But how to do the background?
@jannamakaeva179211 жыл бұрын
Hi Beth, Thanks for your compliments! The background can be done in a number of ways. You can just do a simple colorwash of 2-3 similar colors and achieve a look. You can do a sponging of 2-3- colors and get a similar mottled look. Here we did the whole plaster with glaze thing, which is more labor intensive but also more authentic looking. We applied a coat of untinted Versiplast plaster, let it dry and then lightly sanded with 220 sandpaper, and then glazed it with a dark green/blue glaze made from Faux Effects glaze and 2 craft acrylic colors (Green Forest and Blue Ink, Folk Art). Then we let that dry and you're ready to stencil! Hope this helps, ~Janna

which color we should use and can we wash wall
@CuttingEdgeStencils8 жыл бұрын
Hi Hina, As long as you are using a latex or acrylic based paint, once dry, you can wash the wall. The colors vary depending on which ones you would like to use in your own mural :)
