Thank you! I was a little worried before I started it, just low on confidence because the rose pics I'd painted on holiday hadn't gone the way I was hoping. It started to feel right pretty quickly - it's amazing how much of a difference watercolour paper makes!! 🙂

You are right that you got more depth into the painting than the reference photo. It is one of the brilliant things of painting. You can improve on reality. :) Lots of painters has been paied very well by kings and their likes for that skill alone. :D

Yes, I need to try and do more of that; the using the reference as a guide more than slavishly copying it. Usually my colours are not as bright as the reference but I managed to buck that trend this time 😄 thanks for watching!!

I love your videos. I like the voice overs while you paint. You explain your thought process. Very interesting 🤔, thank you. ☺️

Another BRILLIANT, easy to understand (maybe not actually achieve yet) tutorial! I will attempt this today and I can't wait. You are very inspirational and make it all seem attainable. Which we know it is with practice. Thank you for sharing your time and talents.

Superb. I can’t believe you got the values just right in pretty much one pass. I see you do it on camera but it’s hard to grasp how it can be done, especially as watercolor fades as it dries and your brush has different amounts of water and pigment as you work. Super inspiring work, Gee. It came out better than the photo for sure, and from a distance I couldn’t tell which was the photo and which is the painting.

Hi, if I think about it like that it sounds really involved and complex but when you're painting it, it feels different, more like instinct and intuition take over. I have an idea in my head of how I want it to be but it actually hardly ever ends up that way 😄 sometimes it's better, sometimes not so good. I know it helps to have experience of painting but I know luck plays a part too, especially with watercolor! Thanks for the kind words and the feedback, always appreciated 🙂👍

Gee it’s absolutely gorgeous,as all your other paintings. Indeed your painted flower came out more brilliant and vivid than the reference picture. I love that Bockingford paper myself, even though I don’t think it’s 100% cotton, but all different watercolors look great on that paper both hot and cold press and it’s not expensive at all, at least at Jackson’s isn’t, here in the states is pretty expensive,but I buy it at Jackson’s. Always looking for your videos, lately you post very infrequently, hopefully we’ll see more. I wish there would be a way to get the line art,because I can’t draw at all, not even following your tutorial, I could never draw,but coloring I’m pretty good at. Again, your works are always brilliant,thank you for sharing 👌😌🌹

Thank you for your kind comments 🙂 I'm trying to post a bit more frequently this year but home schooling knocked my schedule out of kilter for a good while 😄 I'm actually going to do a lineart version that can be downloaded and traced - I should be able to get it done this week 👍👍

Thank you so much 🙂 I've got a bit more experience and confidence with the watercolours than the acrylics, which helps. Plus this turned out to be a very enjoyable flower to paint, I was surprised!

Thanks so much - the colours of the fuchsia came out much better than I could have hoped! It's a lovely flower and I've never painted one before so I might look for some others in different colours to paint another time... 🙂

Very nice! Watercolor is tricky it takes a lot of layers
@gee355Art4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yeah, I think I avoid the layers technique a bit because it's so complex. Wet into wet technique is a little more unpredictable but also exciting and a lot quicker 😄 thanks for watching!
