Hi, it does look skeletal, doesn't it? I think some of the wood looks like weathered bone and that's probably what attracted me to it. That, and I admire the craftsmanship of anyone working in 3D 😄 thanks for the kind words 👍🙂

@@xargothunter5746 🙂 I think smaller scale work is where watercolour pencils are well suited, for me. I can imagine getting stressed about edges and streaks on bigger papers. Hi, thanks for the kind words 🙂 I'm slowly finding my way back into them, over the last year. They do produce a different effect to classic watercolours, although that might just be down to my way of using them 😄 probably I use less water with them? Thanks for watching, and good luck with your own artwork!! 👍🙂

albrecht durer are very underestimated. i love mine. Now the thing with watercolour pencils is not to compare them to normal watercolours. They are very different, and a completely different technique is needed. I find the colours very pigmented and so you dont need to lay down a lot, the trick also being not to add a ton of water. Each layer needs building and drying in between. I find the layers do stay and don't come loose with other layers on top, depending on whether they have been properly activated and allowed to dry. The colour is pretty permanent once dry. Unlike your normal watercolour. That is an advantage if you like this method. They Glaze so well. Loose watercolour style or very wet is not the case with these, so best using traditional watercolours. These are really more for those who love a slow paced pencil art with a added touch of water. You can also just use the pencils over the top. These are light fast, and i have explored so much art materials and these really are the very best, but you will be put off if not used in the right way. This range are slightly less transparent than traditional pan/tube watercolours, but again its part of what they are 'pencils'. You either love them of hate them 🤩

I think it's fair to say, after using them a couple of times that I love them 😄 I totally agree with all the points you make but I am going to experiment with loose and watery pieces with them, I can't help but be curious, y'know? I want to test the layering and glazing on other papers, to see if they make a big difference to them mixing or not! Thanks for your lovely in-depth response 👍🙂

Hey, thank you! I really love them, tbh. They react sooo easily with the water and they are quality. If there's any kind of weakness, it's getting them dark enough sometimes, but that can be true of watercolours in general... 🤷🏻‍♂️ I did love using all those muted earthy colours though - I'm a sucker for any kind of ochre colour 😄

Hi, I think, for me there's a definate difference between the pencil marks and the painted marks. It could be the way I use them, or the paper, but there's a graininess to the pencil before I add the water. The water seems to smooth out the colours some, for a more delicate finish? I used to use the Derwent pencils as just coloured pencils sometimes but I can't see myself doing that with these ones 🙂👍
