Agreed, and not without a mask. Those fumes are noxious.

My husband spray painted something in my basement one time. I could not breath when I walked in the house because the paint fumes permeated the entire house. So, it surprised me to see that you are doing that in your kitchen. ???

Excellent video as always. Watched this the other day for inspiration, then headed to the thrift stores. I picked up a few wood lamps that have great shapes. Both were dark wood. I chalk painted them a white to match the pieces I had already done to stage the house. RS came to help me get our home ready to go on the market. I let them choose what they felt would look best, and get an awe! response. They choose those lamps! Not the new lamps. They wanted to know where I got them! Change the shade and base with paint and good to go!

It’s hard to film a lamp on. It just washes everything out and you can see much of anything.

The paint hides the light that shines through unless you use a thin chalk paint and even then.

Im curious about the Lamp Shades - I have fabric, high quality but ugly, is there a certain type of paint to use? Also, I would never think to poly on fabric does that protect it from chipping, just any wood poly or is there special for fabric? Of course I wouldn't have thought to paint the fabric either so what do I know :) :)

@JamiRayVintage7 жыл бұрын
There are several ways you could paint them if that's the route you choose. For lamps I like rustoleum spray paints but I have also painted lamps with chalk paint and milk paint. It all depends on the look you're going for.

I’ve painted brass lamps with a matt finish Valspar spray paint. (The best brand in my opinion) They turned out gorgeous. A creamy white. The lamps were expensive as well, I took a chance on. Not sorry, would do again in a heartbeat.

Ooooooh . (Sorry for my french-english !) After watching this video i sprayed twi boards in white for my shelf and a modern big lamp, (wich was golden) in silver. Prime and then 3 or 4 lyer of color. I was so stupid to do it inside my flat, so i had a lot of dust everywhere afterwords !. But i have a question. I have been looking for long to find a siver spray, wich is relly "silver", because i have a silver chandelier in the same room. This chandelier looks like silver spoons, the color is like a mix of chrom and a lottle bit gold and very bright. So i bought a silver spray, where the color on the top was that kind of "silver". Bur the result (after many layers) is really a cold metallic grey . Not natural at all. Like chrome, but without shine ! So, i don't have the color of my Chandelier, and i don't have the shining of his metal. Do you think it is possible to find a spray (or an other kind of color to paint) in the real apparence of silver ? I'm watching a lot of your videos tonight and learning new things. Thank you for all !

Hi! I love your channel! Quick question do you paint the inside of the shade as well? Also, is the paint non-flammable?
@JamiRayVintage7 жыл бұрын
I believe because it’s spray paint it’s flammable when wet but it’s fine once it dries. I’ve never had an issue. I don’t paint the insides unless it will be visible or it looks bad in contrast.

Thank you :) I was just wondering if it would be safe on the lampshade when you turn the light on.

Spraying in the kitchen, couple feet away from counters on a table -or island where you cook and eat … spray paint INSIDE in the Kitchen and I heard small child voice - you haven't been thinking ... Other part - from school days - you presenting your project/demonstrating ---PREPARE ! Just out of respect. And -Integrity, if it's your 1st or 2nd or 3rd time -- just say so, that You do that revamp with your viewers - it's bring you much more respect and success -than fake it till you make it ...
