How to paint a landscape cascade in watercolor using a loose, expressionistic style.

A tranquil, bubbling water cascade makes a great subject for this video. I start with a sketch and then show the painting from start to finish..
For each painting, I offer the photo and the sketch free. Head over to my web site (www.shirleypet... ) and click on the download button next to the video thumbnail.
My website has the reference photo, and my sketch is there as well. You can print the sketch onto A4 watercolour paper. On your printer, just choose the "plain paper" option. Or have it printed onto A3 for exactly the same size that I am painting.

By the way, I do not recommend this paper. It was too absorbent. The water was 'sucked in' and did not stay on the surface. I suggest you use Arches.

I thoroughly enjoy how you capture the Australian landscapes. The trees came alive when you added the white gouache. The blue added to gouache really added the pop it needed. I also enjoy how you used the purple which blended with making the undergrowth density. Amazing observations of colour which captured the essence of an Australian stream and bushland.
