Do you use matte or gloss paint for the black base

Matte. Never base coat with glossy paint. It is really hard to paint over the top. Most bottle acrylics are matte.

I think Posca is starting to get into a few craft stores, JoAnns I believe has some. They are much more expensive there because they are sold individually. If you want to try to shop local instead of Amazon call around to art supply stores. They are more likely to have the packs.
