/ loisdavidsonart www.etsy.com/u... In this video I'm painting a very simple loose, semi-abstract seascape, suitable for beginners or intermediates, it just takes a bit of practice to get used to the paint and water ratios, the flow of water in wet in wet techniques, and leaving slivers of unpainted paper for the distant waves and reflections on the sand.
My board is tilted at around 45 to 60 degrees so the water and paint flows nicely.
Materials:
Millford 100% cotton paper cold pressed 11" x 15"/28cm x 38cm
Prussian blue, paynes grey, burnt umber, various brushes, see videp, but please use whatever brushes and colours you prefer!
Many thanks for watching, please like and subscribe! Thanks so much to all my Patrons on Patreon for supporting this channel :-) / loisdavidsonart

That's watercolor wizardry - magical brushes - mystical paints. No, that’s clever Lois with a clean sheet of paper, some brushes, and twelve minutes to spare. Fantastic work!

I love the birds. The eye can "fill them in" really easily. So simple, yet so effective! I can smell the sea and the air! Great work, Lois! :)

I just loved this painting so much that I had to try. So, I bought a hake brush especially for this. Although I had to do a second wet on wet layer as I had put the colors really light, the final result was somehow good. I still need more practice with the hake brush. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

So beautiful and you make it LOOK so easy but I just can't use a hake brush (yet). I just end up with a sea of watery paint! Hope to master it one day.

Hi Lois! This tutorial is wonderful 😊 I just found your channel and joined you of course 😁 I'm also a watercolorist and an illustrator.. I fell in love with watercolors one year ago and I love to watch and learn from other watercolor artists all about this medium. And I share what I have learned on this art journey hoping that my works will also help someone and be an inspiration 😊 Love the way you explain everything and it's easy to follow.. love that the seagulls were so simple and just symbolic... beautiful seascape painting! thank you and have a great day! 💖😍💖 Marija

What dictates whether you use burnt umber or sepia?
@LoisDavidsonArt
@LoisDavidsonArt 3 жыл бұрын
Burnt Umber is warmer and richer, whereas my Cotman sepia is darker and more neutral, however, I use either of them without worrying about that whenever I need a brown as for me tonal value and contrast is more important than colour
