After hours of being frustrated about why I couldn't seem to get a straight line to be super clean, I am SO HAPPY to have now found this video and I wish I would have looked sooner. Thank you!

I know this is an older video but I wanted to comment and say thanks anyway - I just used this technique after seeing your video and it's a night and day difference compared to the silliness that I'd ended up with after previously trying to paint the edges freehand on my walls with knock down texture. I used DAP Alex trim caulk and yellow Frog tape for delicate surfaces. The edges came out perfectly. Thanks!

Awesome Tip!!!! Man, TX has nothing but Textured walls and I couldn't get a straight line to save my life!

I'm a pretty good freehand trimmer but I did freehand trim between black and white paint and it shows no mercy for mess ups. Not only will this look 100% better but be EASIER! Thank you!

My ENTIRE HOUSE is builder's beige with knockdown walls and ceilings. It's like living in a mud palace. I've been adding accent walls over the years, but it's so slow every time because the corners have always been such a nightmare. There's also an amazing amount of conflicting advice and online demonstrations of how to do it badly, lol...this is the first video I've seen that provides both an actual long-term solution AND an excellent-looking result! I think my next project is to go caulk every corner of every room in the house, LOL.

Super super helpful, I should have watched this before painting my textured corners. Such a simple way to get straight lines between contrasting colors.

Thank you, I used this method to paint an accent wall and it worked great! Takes some time but very easy for a beginner to get a straight edge on knockdown texture.

I guarantee it's 1000x faster than going back w/ a teeny tiny fine art brush and fixing every divot and dribble by hand!! Ask me how I know!! 🤣

Watching this in 2022, helped me out a lot. I tried painting with tape and even though i made sure to buy good tape a stick it really straight and well, paint seems to find its way to get under the tape. With this method, i learned to do it fast and easy and ONCE. haha - Thank you

one last 'item'...or 'step...you could do, to help achieve perfection with this method, is...after your caulking is dry...and you place your tape down the caulk line, take some 'clear caulk...and run a very, very light bead, down the edge of the tape... don't let it dry!...and then...paint down the edge. what this does is offer even further assurance that..'paint won't leak under' the blue tape! then peel! works like a charm.
@markojankovic10433 жыл бұрын
Great video!! Just to save you some time... put the tape first, a little bit of caulking along the edge, paint right away, before the caulk and paint dries pull the tape....same results and you don't have to go through all these steps and drying time 😉

There's a better way without the caulking. Paint the tape over with the lighter color on the dark wall. This will seal the tape. When dry, paint over the tape with the darker color. You get a perfect seam with no dark paint seeping under the tape.

@phillips2782 жыл бұрын
I’m gonna make this easy for everyone…..the color of the existing paint that you taped over(simply paint the lines with that same color if you have any left and it will seal the paint line). Then paint over the new paint line that sealed and covered the tape line with your new paint and you will have perfect line…..any questions?

Invest in a great "cutting-in" brush. No tape or caulk required.
@BurtBowers6 жыл бұрын
Think its just too much extra work using the caulking, painters tape is ok to use though the edge of tape that is going to be painted up against must be securely fixed to wall after paint is applied then remove tape immediately slowly many recommend the caulking but is really waste of time & money.
@whitneybailey90219 ай бұрын
LOL you have obviously never painted textured wall to textured wall.
