Hi Elizabeth, don't be afraid to slow down the video in order to catch up with your own painting work. When I was beginning, I would first watch the video straight through, then I would watch again, stopping the video every minute or so in order to try to follow him. I still do that on his oils. It made such a difference in being able to learn what he was teaching.

Hi Sylvia, I know it takes a long time. I sent the brushes to a fellow artist in Argentina on December 20, 2020, and she still hasn't received them. :-( But the calligraphy brush and flat brush can only be bought from Yong who gets them straight from the manufacturer in China. Hopefully, mail and people will be traveling across borders soon.

Does your paper stay that wet that you do not get blooms when adding those additional colors? I really appreciate your technique of painting the fur

Hi Eva, Yong would say that every painting has a step in it that he calls "adjusting." The means if a painting gets too much texture in it -- like a bloom -- before the painting is finished, you need to figure out different ways to manage it. But addressing the problem too early in the painting process is not constructive and just time consuming. Watch the video again and see when Yong started to make all kinds of adjustments -- lifting, adding gradient washes, softening edges, etc.
