Wow this is an incredible scheme. I've been stuck trying to figure out how I want to do bone coloured chaos space marines, and have tried a few different methods of painting. I really love the tonal variation you bring out with the warm recesses and colder highlights. It also looks like it's pretty fast to paint - which is a huge plus! Good job!

Of course I cursed your name, burned an Hidalgo-Effigy and prayed to God to smite you. How would you do this type of work with contrast paints on a vehicle? Like a boxy rhino or some such. Love contrast paints but the effects on large flat surface dont look great.

Short answer would be you don't. Long answer is you go panel by panel, use the largest brush you have and try to do each panel in one brushtroke, move the brush in the direction you want your shadows to go. Once the panel I done with a clean brush absorb the excess pooling.

Gracias a ti por ver lo que hago! Si, la imprimación blanca ahora se llama Corax White. El Skull White de antaño dejo de fabricarse. Corax es un poco más gris que Skull y por lo menos para mí es mejor así. Me encanta ese muy leve tono gris que tiene personalmente. Por cierto, yo soy de Bilbao 😊

Greyseer y Wraithbone son posiblemente los mejores sprays que GW ha hecho nunca, al menos desde el punto de vista técnico (suavidad y textura) yo los tengo todos personalmente pero el que más uso es Corax con diferencia pq me gusta empezar desde blanco

Jaja Entre 2009 y 2012 volví a retomarlo, ya que por 2012 creo que sacaron la caja de venganza oscura que es el capítulo de marines que colecciono. Ahora he vuelto y quiero acabar una táctica de marines de esa caja y una caja de caballeros del ala de la muerte que por lo que he visto ya los tienen descatalogados , tb me queda a Sammael en corvus, un Marine ancient portaestandarte y un volador... Asique tengo entretenimiento jajaja Pero como la fiebre del plástico nunca para... Y estos judíos de Worlshop son unos cabrones ha caído la caja de 9 a medias con un colega de la cuadrilla jajaja.... Lo sé tengo una enfermedad jaja Y no se la verdad , no creo que los pinte de ángeles oscuros , quiero probar a pintar otro capítulo...cual me recomiendas? Just out interest has you thought about doing the recess shade first? I like the method but recess shading is the messy part for me, so I would use this method, but recess first, clean up, then use the over all Skeleton/Medium mix wash.

That's actually not a bad I'd if you find recess shading hard. There are a couple reasons why I don't do it myself. First is some Contrast Paints are more opaque than others (like Apothecary White) and they will cover over that lining. Secondly the Skeleton Horde will wash out the warmth of the Fyreslayer Flesh and the results won't have such a nice tonal variation. That being said it will definitely work

Way too dark but you can dilute it with a lot of medium. Snakebite leather can work too, I've used it in Jain Zar but gives a different hue.

I have some droppers of the mixes I use the most like the Black Templar 1:3 for example. I also do droppers for the custom mixes for each army I'm doing. For example I have three droppers for my undead, Nihilakh Oxide 1:1, Akhelian Green 1:4 and Coelia Greenshade 1:4 that way I don't need to mix and I'm certain all the army has the exact same tint

Okay because i like this bone technique and have a ton of spare dropper bottles. Does it only work on corax white/white acyrlic in general or do you get a similar result say from grey seer?

@@PotionMan only Corax white (that is a very light grey) for the exact same look, over Greyseer you will get a very desaturated and dark bone, with Wraithbone you will get a much more intense and saturated bone and with pure white an slightly lighter bone colour. Hope that helps.

If you don't want to use contrast for the bone parts, I would recommend a Basecoat of Wraithbone, a wash with a 1:1:1 mix of Seraphim Sepia, Reikland Fleshade and Lahmian Medium, then a recess shade of Mournfang Brown diluted with water. You can then neat up with Wraithbone if needed, then edge highlights of Pallyd Witch Flesh and White. I think that could be a good bone colour

@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures I have a couple of Winsor & Newton brushes, the 0 and 00, i'll take a look at the others too. I think I just need to learn better brush care because mine don't tend to keep the point very well :)

@@KhaosOP it's not so much brush care as damage control. Brushes tend to get destroyed when paint gets trapped in the ferrule, is you don't let paint get past half of the bristles they will last FOR EVER. I'm the laziest brush carer ever. I just rinse them in water, cap them and put them into a box, that's it

You sometimes need to touch up but because we edge highlight afterwards the edge highlights are going to fix most of the little mistakes

@@clarketron3000 that's why I never say what brushes I use. They don't really matter, people get too fixated with brushes brands and sizes. As long as they are Kolinsky and good quality (avoid Chinese ones) you should be fine. I use Rosemary and Co Series 33, Windsor and Newton Series 7, Da Vinci Maestro 10, Artis Opus S... My only real advice is to use a brush as large as you can and learn how to use the tip and just the tip. You will learn a lot of brush control that way and that is the most important thing you can learn

@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures I've been using those cheap Chinese ones for larger areas and trying to jam Contrast into some of these models (boardgaming - so they're not created with painting in mind), mostly because I don't want to damage my nicer brushes, but maybe I need to start using slightly better quality brushes. @@clarketron3000 if it's for washing and those kind of things keep using the cheap ones. But when you go into the highlights or Glazing use decent brushes
