@PeteTheWargamer8 жыл бұрын
I tend to only use one or brushes in my tutorials, a character sized kolinksy sable brush from elementgames.co.uk or the GW Medium Layer brush. Both are pretty similar. For some smaller details I may use an Army Painter detail brush.

Great video, been looking for something just like it. Thank you for making this :) I've got a question, though. How do you attach a mini to a cork? Just glue or do you drill a hole in it or..?
@EraQuisnamVigila8 жыл бұрын
Yeah I'd like to know that one, too.

I drill a hole into the miniature and the cork and insert some wire into them to hold the two together. I'll be doing a more in depth tutorial on this shortly however!
@MiecioMiszcz18 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for the reply :D Tutorial would be really helpful, I always (well, quite often) see people paint with the help of that cork-wire thingy and for some reason can't quite figure out the logistics of that.

@MrDarthTesla7 жыл бұрын
Can you give an advice on how to paint an already assembled model? Yeah, was so excited to assemble first miniature out of Start Collection box and didn't think of how it would be hard to paint it. Thanks in advance. Great tutorial btw.
@PeteTheWargamer7 жыл бұрын
So it's not impossible but you need to think about the order you're painting things. Make sure you paint things that are in the harder to reach areas first. Then move on to the easier to reach areas. This prevents you from accidentally over spilling on to parts you have already painted.
@MrDarthTesla7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for advice!

Hi, I have picked from one of your previous tutorials idea of using a wet palette, which after some investigation of how to make one, really brought up painting with most colors to a new level, and I am very thankful for that advice. It was hard before to properly water down the paints, because this phrase is a bit abstract for the beginner. But I also noticed, at least till now that using metallic paints from the wet palette probably gives them to much water, and some paints, like Retributor armor already a little thinner than say Leadbelcher. Any more awesome advice you can give of how exactly water down some metallic paints to really smooth them? :)
@PeteTheWargamer8 жыл бұрын
Use Lahmian Medium, I've found that watering down metallic paints a little bit works fine but they tend to 'dry up' faster than other paints in the pot. So adding in some Lahmian Medium pretty much revitalises the paint and makes it much easier to paint with.

\Hey TWG, great tutorial. May I suggest using manual focus in future? As it sometimes focuses on your hand and the model loses focus!
@PeteTheWargamer8 жыл бұрын
I've used Manual Focus in the past but unfortunately due to the fact I'm focusing on an up close miniature I have such a small 'window' in which to hold the model to be in focus. If I moved the miniature even just a few millimetres forwards or backwards it lost focus and ended up being worse than the auto-focus! The best solution would be to stop getting hands in front of the lens as much :P

You don't always have to paint the eyes. I didn't on this miniature and it's only noticeable up close. On a table top you'd hardly see the eyes anyway!
