Thanks so much for this video. I'm moving into a new loft apartment with 16 ft cathedral ceilings and doind this is an absolute must. Im going to get out my Baker scaffold from harbor freight, put the wheels on it, and roll myself around, laying on my scaffold and painting clouds. It's gonna look so great, and you almost can't mess this up. Im soooo looking forward to this.

Yep. I did that to several of my cheap brushes too. I got ones that weren't thick, and cut into the bristles holding my scissors in such a way that it cut straight into the bristles, with short, quick cuts. I've seen hair salon places do it to their customer's hair! They are great for painting grasses and animal hair, etc! Thanks for the download!!

Going to do this in my new studio under construction in the main space with the sloped ceiling. I'm thinking of doing a starry night theme in the small hallway with the the barrel vault. The hard part is going to be getting the lighting just right, after the painting of course!

I am a dormant artist. It has been almost 10 years since, I last picked up a brush. I have always admired and studied Caravagio, Tinian, Leonardo, and Michelangelo. I have always wanted to do a ceiling. I have this bedroom that needed some work so here , I go. That urge to paint came back. I must ask. Do you have any artist of inspiration.

Have you ever painted clouds that look like watercolor? I’m working on a baby room project and would love to do that.
@thnkr091721 күн бұрын
Just guessing. You'd do the same thing, but with softer colors. What he does as his darkest blue, do a few shades lighter for your darkest color. Also probably a lot wispier along the edges of the clouds. In the video when he uses the hairpiece, that would look very watercolor-esque if the darkest blues were lighter.

when you choose oils and when acrylics? thanks
@muraljoe5 жыл бұрын
Hi there Evgeni. I use oils for canvas paintings when I really want to go slower on the details and get a softer more blended look. Oils also leave behind more attractive brush texture in my opinion. I rarely use oils though since I can accomplish my purposes acrylics most of the time.

Did I miss something? What color did you use for the shadows? Is it gray, or a blend of gray and blue? I did a cloud ceiling a few years ago, but I'm not satisfied with it yet. I want a more realistic look. I've having problems with getting the shadows done correctly, and on the right place. I like the idea of wetting the area first. Do you use a faux glazing medium mixed in your paint or an extender to slow the drying time?

Yes, the ceiling was textured and painted already. Smoothing over it just allows me to make a more realistic sky without texture shadows in it. But it's not necessary.
