I’ve watched thousands of cloud paintings. This is the first that I’d say looked realistic AND was explained well enough I could follow! I find so many experienced painters on KZbin cut the videos down and it leaves out a lot of crucial building techniques! Thanks so much for the video

I did that in earlier videos when I started this channel 2 years ago. But people apparantly do not like this approach...they want to get the information highly compressed in 10 minutes or shorter, is the video longer (my early ones had an hour or even more) they leave very early and KZbin is not recommending these videos any further unfortunately. But I have a Patreon (link is in the description box) where I offer full time videos without any time lapse including the full colour mixing process ahead of painting - perhaps this is something you might be interested in :-)))

Wow! Thanks for this tutorial on clouds. Love your paintings. Would that dry brush blending technique work with acrylic paint too? I am still learning, but I find acrylic dries so quickly sometimes my blending doesn't work so well
@brennerfineart
@brennerfineart 7 ай бұрын
Acrylics dry simply too quick, the background can not be done like this with acrylics. But there are drying retarders that slow down the drying process, you could try to use one of these. Or just switch to oils ;-) WAY easier to handle and simply producing just way better results.

Finally found this video.! Looks great.. Should we wait till the background gets dry to paint the clouds or we can carry-on ? Usually they say we need to wait 6months for the painting to dry to use varnish. Should we really need to wait for months or we can use a hair dryer?
@brennerfineart
@brennerfineart Жыл бұрын
Thank you :-))) The background needs to be bone dry...and the drying time depends upon the thickness of the colour...I do use thin layers of colour. Not thinned down a lot but overall just enough colour to cover the white of the canvas. And this will take a couple of days to really dry completely so that it will not lift off again when you apply the next layer. Just put it next to your heater in your appartment or in direct sunlight in summertime, this also helps a lot to speed up drying time.

Can an acrylic painter make oil paintings easily?? or is it difficult??
@brennerfineart
@brennerfineart 3 жыл бұрын
I started with acrylics and I think oils are easier to handle, especially when it comes to blending. When you want to blend acrylics you need some drying retarder or work in layers. Oils stay wet MUCH longer and so have much more time to blend the colours to perfection. But as oils need much longer to dry you will need to let the layers dry completely before applying another layer.
@Khh444

I know what you mean :-))) A bit of a problem is that people get very quick very bored - so not to loose them you need to engage them with constant fresh information, lots of cuts, new angles etc. so it`s very hard to show everything in detail and NOT loose all the viewers unfortunately :-((( I tried it on several videos and they did exceptionally bad...so I try to focus on the important steps and try to keep a steady "flow" for the KZbin community. Since I do the 8, 10, 15 minute videos KZbin pushes my videos A LOT more out to people and they stay a lot longer (percentage wise)...so I have to do it this way unfortunately. @brennerfineart

Classes can be helpful but are not essential for improving. I had some formal basic training for a year but that was nothing compared to the time I spent alone in fron of the easel figuring out how to achieve a realistic look applying the colours. I am convinced that nearly anyone can learn how to paint but you need to put the time in that it takes to get to a good level. You need to wait until the colour of the sky is bone dry. Then you can apply the colour for the clouds - this way the colours will not start to mix unintentionally. This tipp is especially working for oils.

Thank you for your feedback! It`s a very early tutorial that I did when I had not much experience here on youtube. But another point is, that people apparantly do not want to get in detail information about the process that goes into a painting here on youtube. The videos without any time lapse that were much longer did really bad. Therefore I started to offer the real tutorials on my patreon where people see the whole mixing process and all of the material that I filmed without any time lapse.
