I know I'm a little late to this party, but why black undercoat? Especially using a layer paint like Sotek to base the cloak, wouldn't a medium grey work better? Just wondering because I'm definatly following this for my own City States, but I want to be sure of the spray I'm buying.

While a grey undercoat would be better for the blue parts, black is superior for the metallics. The way metallic paints work, they look better over a black undercoat. It has to do with how light diffuses through the paint layers. I don't know the full explanation behind it but I am sure you could research it and find a detailed answer. Anytime I pant a project with lots of metallic sections I use black.

@@TheMiniatureManager Looking good so far. I went with a lahmian medium/akhellian green mix for my shade... I just loved that turquoise blue of the Sotek Green too much. Keep the Conquet videos coming! I just started playing and I'm absolutely in love with the game.

I have watched a few of his videos. I subscribe to him but most of the time I find I don't get a lot of time to watch paint tutorials anymore. I took some inspiration on some of his camera angles early on in my channel but I can't say I ever payed too much attention to the narration style. It is an honor to be compared to such a skilled KZbinr/ painter.
