I loved this focus on stems! I have worked some with watercolor and have a way to go. Focus on one issue, such as stems was so helpful! How about a video on the complex centers of open flowers…the stamen?

This type of video is incredibly helpful, thanks so much! I think if this information is just dropped into a long tutorial, it's very hard to parse or remember. By separating it out, I know that I'll be more conscious of my decisions when painting flower stems and similar objects. A series would be incredible :)

Thank you. I like seeing happy accidents and the exclamation on how to improve. I find l make mistakes l don't realize l have made until l see another artist who did it the same way and tell what it is you should be care of. I think seeing somewhat bad painting helps us see better. We forget details that make a difference in the success of a art work.

Your thorough explanations of how to paint from the start to the end is simply "Brilliant". I thought I did not need to learn others' techniques because I could invent my own by practicing diligently and I have a talent. But, that was not a good way to evolve my painting skills. Thanks for being an outstanding teacher. Simply love your teaching.

Very useful thank you. Do you have a suggestion of how to actually control the brush to get a nice straight line/stem. Do you make parallel lines then fill in or do one stroke with the brush? My stems are wonky.
@kathryncurry26623 жыл бұрын
This was extremely helpful, thank you so much. Your detailed explanation was very thorough and understandable. Would you try to explain warm vs cool colors. I understand the color wheel, but still have difficulty determining if a particular color is warm or cool. Is there an easy way to accomplish this just by looking at a shade of color? Thanks again ☺️
@AnnaBucciarelli3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Kathryn. I will go in depth and show a more hands on examples in my next week tutorial on backgrounds. Basically it's always relative - a particular color like magenta can be "read" as warm next to a cold blue, but can also serve as cold next to a warm yellow. THe only colors that are likely always warm are oranges. Context matters, and you will get used to it with time I promise. I will go over this in depth in this upcoming video and show some examples on how to "read" color!

I am in constant awe of your talent. I so appreciate the way you explain what and why you do things. I don't own those paints but will do my best using M Grahm or Daniel Smith. Any suggestions on colors with those paints? Thank you so much. Blessings!
@AnnaBucciarelli3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Toni. I use Daniel Smith a lot, in fact they are probably my #1. QOR is fantastic, but has a limited range. I have several videos on my favourite pigments, with demos, I will link them below. I am not very familiar with MG probably because they don't sell much in Canadian art stores, but I only hear good things about their range. Here are the videos: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jIGvl62OhseHhcU and this one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i4uqmKNmpbV1gq8

Hi Anna, love your botanical tutorials and your soft voice. Could you advice please what is the best way to have step by step lessons in full length? I’m a talented beginner and would like to learn properly 😀 I’ve heard about skill share and patreom but not sure which one is better?
@AnnaBucciarelli3 жыл бұрын
Hi Lana, Thank you for your kind feedback! 💜 This is a good question - and it often comes up in watercolor groups I am a part of. But first, let me answer your question re: SkillShare vs Patreon. SkillShare is more useful for beginners/early intermediate artists as it instantly offers a variety of different teachers at different levels and different styles, that you can try at any time [not to mention other topics of study]. There are many "watercolor basics" classes you can find there with actionable steps and good exercises [simply look for ones with good reviews]. I wouldn't recommend my own classes in the beginning, as I focus on more advanced techniques. To answer your first question, I am not aware of any comprehensive online programs that would be strongly recommended for early beginners [there probably are some but I haven't taken any, and I am not comfortable recommending something I haven't tried myself]. There is a group on Facebook called Watercolor Tips and Techniques that often features this question and you may find recommendations from artists there to be of value. I will be upfront, I am self-taught when it comes to watercolor and the first 1-2 years of my watercolor journey was like walking in the dark [just lots and lots of mistakes in retrospect]. BUT! I was enjoying my experiments, and eventually got a hang of it simply by practicing and [VERY IMPORTANT] switching to proper paper. I did however attend an art school when I was around 11-13 and learned some good fundamentals [like the ones I implement in my own classes e.g.: understanding of light etc]. I feel like what's missing out there is a comprehensive watercolor course that teaches art fundamentals specifically how they apply to watercolor medium. That's basically why I started my channel... If I hear about anything that I think is comprehensive in terms of starting out, I will definitely let you know! Or perhaps I should make my own course based on my experience with in-person teaching, but that would be 2022 work plan:) Sorry, I wish I had a better answer honestly! 💜💜💜 Let me know if you find anything that you find of value! I'd love to know so I can spread the word. Have a wonderful day!
