This easy one of the most useful tutorials I've seen in a long time. For me I'm quite advanced technically but there was always something not quite perfect about my work that always frustrated me. Now I can see it is the composition that was off, and your tips to bring it together are wonderful, I especially like the Chinese principal you described. Absolutely wonderful tutorial, for the first time I actually think I can now fix what I was unhappy with which had almost made me give up at one point. What an interesting technique is the Gongbi !!! I love this technique or composition, because I have a blurry memory of one of this painting around me when I was a child. I love the Christmas Cactus and Easter Cactuses. That's what we call them in the UK - I hadn't heard of Holiday Cactus before. The colours of both are such a bright coral and rarely chosen as an art subject.

I love the way you explained the color recycling and colors used in composition. Mame you have said much about the composition of water paint. This video is more informative about art and history than paint composition. This video is super misleading ! I give it a strong thumbs down.
