Wow! Now that's impressive, I was already sold on the effect about halfway through the video. I've got a mini with a wizard whose staff has a glass ball at the top and up til now have been avoiding tackling it. Thanks for this vid, for as advanced as the technique is, you have made it very encouraging and informative and reinforces the message I get from your tutorials about how light interacts with shapes and materials. Cheers!

Happy to help. There is a very good reason why that is, it's because these videos perform REALLY bad, this is so far my worst performing video. Go figure. I don't care about those things but it's sad

This is perfect for me. I've had a Fabius Bile model sitting on my shelf for a while now with no idea on how to best approach the vials on his backpack. This might be a perfect trick for those. Gonna experiment with the colours a bit though. Red or blue liquids could be cool I think.

Thanks JH for this video. I think I’m gonna try to paint all the base colours and mid tones in my next bottle/liquid with some minor highlights and apply gloss varnish. I think it would look good alongside TMM

I'm definitely not at your level with painting yet, working towards it, but have you also tried adding Ardcoat over it after you've painted glass or gems to how you like it? It gives it even more of a glassy look for gems so I wonder about work like that you just did in the video or do you think that it will make it appear one dimensional?
@JuanHidalgoMiniatures Жыл бұрын
No, that will just make another reflection on top of what I've painted creating a mess. You either paint the effect on or use Varnish but not both. Same for gems BTW, I never use gloss varnish

I tried something like this a little while ago it's definitely not simple but it was a fun learning experience. It's good to see I was on the right track I was wondering if for this technique, is it easier to start with a bright color or would you recommend something like the layer method (dark color, lighter color lightest color) or does that method make it more of a challenge?
@JuanHidalgoMiniatures Жыл бұрын
I always prefer to start with a midtone, as I have done here
