I think applying the scarlet over black is also a great way to distinguish between red armies, if you have Blood Angels as well, you don't want your guys all looking the same, slight variations like this will create that distinction. Also the black trim helps with that as well.

Fantastic as always and yes, I completely agree the black looks far superior to the gold. 👍 ♥

Great choice on the trim! It looks fabulous!

Great tip regarding painting cloaks. Might redo mine in your style. I understand your pain with Blood Warriors trim. Enough to make you need a mental health year off afterwards.

I just noticed stuff in part 3 happened before part 2 actually :) A lot of great tips man, and also liking the color scheme a lot. Now it got me thinking abou bone armor plates + dark iron trim. Guess all of my BW units will be a bit different to represent different bands within a slaughterhoist - because why the hell not :)

the comment you did on warhammertv is one thing i keep mentioning to some of my fellow painters when i see them upclose, and that fabrics like cloaks and leather dont reflect light like metallic surfaces do..that cloak looks amazing...

that cloak painting technique is really smart that's why I subscribed

This is a very nice piece, your choice of colors (red and black) works extremely well. I will keep my axe silver though or will darken the bone part more to keep in line with the black tone.

A little bit of what they call "Fridge Brilliance" as to Khorne's colours. They represent the two things spilled in war: red for blood (obviously), and brass for bullet casings.

I hear you regarding the pain painting the trim. Blood Warriors are so time consuming to paint, I find. I have also tried airbrushing and painting by hand, and neither way is quick. However, I would also prefer glazing in the panels by hand. EDIT: For the trim of my BW, I actually used your method of painting the bronze metal of Blood Reavers and kinda the method you used for painting their armor panels. Thanks again for those great tricks!

I must say there is something good to be said for black trim Chaos Vs gold trim.
@n3r0n36 жыл бұрын
I would personally leave it black, airbrush little white spots at the center of the spaces that are supposed to be red then fill these spaces with red (ink or diluted red) and correct the little spills on the black rims anyway it looks great this way as well, it's just more time consuming process ;)
@n3r0n36 жыл бұрын
ah I agree 100% on cloaks anyway u may try using airbrush after masking the creases with little blue tack rolls that are smaller than the crease. If u do not press them, being round they will smooth the curve of the unpainted surface when u airbrush. Try, if done correctly it works and it is faster.

hey rob, thx for this very cool video. one question: what is this for a pink stuff you use to fix the model on your holder and in the scene you mask the whole miniature before airbrushing the axe?
@bezzy82576 жыл бұрын
Looks awesome. When you were painting the chest mouth thing though it kept saying you were using a VMA gold colour instead of the pinks

Hey Rob, when you shaded the red parts with nuln oil, did u thin it down with some medium? it looks so smooth. in my experience nuln oil is not that smooth out of the pod?!?

It's straight out of the pot. I've done nothing special to it.

i think i know how he does it... its the first coat of primer he uses, its glossy, and the rest of the paint it gets get that smooth finish too... at least thats how i managed to get it some what smooth like in this video. after the primer i do a gloss varnish and then i paint the rest of the scheme.

hey rob, you sound very annoyed and angry. is everything alright? maybe you really should take a break for a weak or two. i have the feeling that the golden daemon and your other painting projects are starting to drain your patience. refresh yourself a bit. I am kind of starting to worry :o also watch your health a bit. i know there is alot happening there right now. take the break when you need it not after breaking.
@fictitiousplays17115 жыл бұрын
Bruh incredible model but whilst I agree with you technique for the cloak, don't you think the same logic could be applied to edge highlighting in concern to realism and light? Washes and edge highlights aren't a great substitution for reality.
@RobPaintsModels5 жыл бұрын
I use edge highlights to indicate wear more than I use them to represent reflections. You may notice that I rarely apply edge highlights to organic or soft surfaces and only use them on hard surfaces where they are much more common in reality. I overdid them on Magore's fiends though and they are both too bright and too frequent.
