HOW TO PAINT LIKE OIL WITH ACRYLIC | PORTRAIT PAINTING TUTORIAL ON CANVAS BY DEBOJYOTI BORUAH

In this video I am showing how to achieve oil like finish with acrylic paint in a portrait painting on canvas. This portrait is of Padma Shri Dipali Borthakur who also known as the Nightingale of Assam was a very popular singer from the state. For this painting I am using water as the only medium. No retarder is used for this painting process.
I have started this painting with a coat of Yellow Ochre and Burnt Sienna to cover the entire canvas as a base coat . I have applied many thin layers to achieve the desired effect of the skin tone. Most of the blending is done with dry brush technique with minimal water on the palette.

The roller is very useful for covering large areas quickly with some textures. Morey it gives you an unique semi-transparent layering style which is hard to achieve with brush. I have used it for my background here. Thank you so much for watching 😊🙏

Mostly wet on wet. But you can't get a full wet surface all the time to paint on with acrylic. So it's better to work in layers. Let the previous surface dry. You can easily paint on it with a second layer. This is an advantage of acrylic. Thank you so much.
