Hi. I really enjoy all your videos. I'm wondering why you don't tape down your paper with washi tape. It really helps me.

Fab suggestion. I've recently started taping...🤭

So lovely and helpful instruction. You commented that this is also the way you do a side peony. It there anything that makes it look different than your peony? I have taken so many reference photos of my hibiscus plant hoping to paint and have been overwhelmed each time. Thank you for making this doable!
@ClariceGomesdesigns5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Dawn, Im so happy to hear you've found this helpful. Re the peony comment..once you add the stamen then it doesnt quite look like a loose peony anymore...

Hello Clarice. That always cracks me up. Anyway, could you put the link of the paper you used? I’m always looking for good deals on good paper. Thanks, and lovely painting, as always.

Hi Clarice! I apologize if this is a repeated question, but how did you learn how to paint flowers/leaves? Are you self-taught… or Did you go to art school… I’m curious because I am so far, self-taught but getting ready to take a couple Adult Ed classes next month. I absolutely love your style of painting. It’s so loose and soft and lovely and romantic and you make it look so easy… But then when I try it, it doesn’t look at all like yours. It’s very clunky and dark… I know that it has a lot to do with what kind of paint you use and paper.... Thank you for any insight you can give me and bless you for posting all these wonderful videos!😍

No need for apology at all, Malia! Ask away :) I am self-taught when it comes to watercolour. I've always loved the arts and so tried my hand at watercolour and really took to it. Paper, paints and brushes make all the difference when it comes to results. Having said that, how you use the paints with water combined with brush techniques also plays a part in your results. I would advise keeping at it and enjoying the process of painting and trying new things without trying to "follow" rules to the tee. The results might just surprise you.

Love hibiscus... I have a triple blooming one on my balcony. I have been wanting to try painting it and this will help. What brand paints did you use? Are they the same you use in all of your work?
