The really interesting part, to me was how the 2 browns really defined the molten look. For the longest time the very subtle blending of the white, yellows and orange were so similar, but as soon as the Mournfang was added it completely changed the blade and defined the effect. The Vallejo brown just totally finished it though. Amazing.

With a bit of ingenuity, you could make the sword look like it had an aura. For a paladin maybe yellow or orange around the blade or maybe even blue or green or purple, black for necrotic aura, and white for a regular magical aura.

Thats crazy awesome! I just found your channel recently and im in love with your work.Thank you so much for making videos about painting minis! I have a question for you: would i be able to aply your blending technique if working with oil paint, or it would require a different approach, like changing the consistency/viscosity or even an entirely different technique? (if i get it right, for your blending technique to be aplied, the layers/basecoat need to be dry but the previous small lines/dots from the other colors still wet, right? the consistency of paint used to layers/blending is the same?)
@2brushes1cup
@2brushes1cup 5 жыл бұрын
I have no experience with oil paints besides weathering and washes, but from what I know the approach to blending with oils is much different than with acrylics. I'm not nearly competent enough in the topic to give any meaningful advice though.

You don't need much paint if the dilution levels are high enough. I can control the amount of paint on the brush rather well, but you can always wipe the excess on a paper towel if you're not sure if you don't have too much of it

If possible, you should add in the description the list of paints you used. It would be useful to make sure I have them all before starting the tutorial :) Thanks! It's a very nice tutorial.
@2brushes1cup
@2brushes1cup 5 жыл бұрын
This is a good idea, I can provide the list of paints in the video description, but honestly, unless it's a very specific effect that absolutely requires the very same colour that was used in the tutorial - you can just choose any paint that is similar. This effect can be replicated with any combination of white, yellow, orange, red and brown. Moving away from the belief that you absolutely have to have all the same paints as the tutorial to copy the effect is the first step to becoming a better painter :)
@Kino1428
@Kino1428 5 жыл бұрын
@@2brushes1cup You are absolutely right! But sometimes, a beginner feels more confident trying it out with the exact same colors and experimenting later, like myself. I personally do the same thing for cooking. Try the recipe as is, once, then experiment.
@2brushes1cup
@2brushes1cup 5 жыл бұрын
Yea, don't get me wrong, there's nothing bad in using the same paints as shown in the tutorial. Hell, I do this all the time if I have the same exact paints and even if I don't I sometimes will just buy some paint recommended by the tutorial cause I'm a complete paint addict and buy way more than I actually need. I know that it's helpful for a lot of people, that's why I always have the paint name shown on the screen and adding them into the description is a good idea that I will implement from now on
