I was wondering how did it go with your Death Guard project? I my self am in a challenge to paint 100 figures by Dec 31, 45 of which are DG. 30 plague marines, 15 characters. From Dark imperium, 2 Know no Fear sets, and DG from Warhammer Conquest magazine. The details are definitely a ton.

Historically I've always played imperial guardsmen or tyranids, I recently acquired some death guards with a box set and actually like them which is why I'm here. As an imperial guardsman I would say that using cadian fleshtone on death guards was blasphemy, but I can't argue with those results. Looks great

Good video and tutorial. I first got this approach to painting only recently with Midwinter Minis but it is good to see other people taking the same approach. I think for a long while there people thought there models had to look Golden Daemon standard even for the table top. I like the idea of that second sepia wash as well, will be trying that on my next batch of marines. I have been experimenting with using contrast and standard paints for the Nurgle army. Example, I base coloured the tentacles pink and then went over with a single coat contrast purple. You could could see the pink pushing through. Have you thought of this approach?
@TopTableGaming4 жыл бұрын
Thanks buddy. I think ‘tabletop standard’ has always been a thing and is certainly not a new concept! I generally enjoy painting however painting 40 of the same model can get a bit repetitive, so painting them to ‘tabletop standard’ is a good way of smashing through the rank and file before spending a bit more time of the characters and other cool stuff! I’ve not used much Contrast but it’s certainly something to think about in the future 😊 Thanks for commenting! - TTG Ben

having a go at your scheme, I only missing straken green (but should have it in a few days) I'm only using vallejo game colour metallics for my brass (I do have balthazar gold, I just like vallejo metallic colours more these days. leadbelcher is still amazing though, and I do like storm host silver. I prefer bright bronze from vallejo to sycorax bronze though) I was wondering about severed heads though. I would normally do them rakarth flesh with a druchi violet shade and pallid wytch flesh highlights, but as this mini calls for the same 2 shades on the entire model, the severed heads are going to look like the bone. I'm wondering if a different base coat could be used to compliment this 2 wash system you have. Otherwise I'm just gonna have to do the severed heads in druchi violet instead. hopefully it won't look apart from the mini. it is only a tiny detail after all. the whole reason I like your scheme is because it uses the same two shades. I find DG can very easily become too much because of all the details, and they start to move further and further away from a unified scheme.

Also Luke’s APS has a good video on cheap airbrushes. I brought a $35 airbrush kit. I only using it for priming and basecoating, which is equal to my current skill level and it’s best performance.

Thanks buddy! Parade ready would probably pick out some further highlights and perhaps add some rust effects. @D00M3R-SK83 жыл бұрын
@@TopTableGaming it is very simple indeed, only a handful of colours needed. it actually works better as well because the 2 shade colours pull it all together nicely. other recipes will have you using druchi violet on the mutations and loin cloth, and then reikland flesh shade on the brnze, and nuln oil on the silvers. then every mini scheme has it's own 2 highlight colours. I am only just trying out this scheme for myself, since returning to 40k again. I feel this is a winner though. DG have a done of detail on them, and it's very easy for you to end up with too much doing on. this way it keeps it all in check. and also you can add to this scheme with weathering and stuff, on character models and tanks and such.
