can I paint underglaze on bisque ware? thank you for all your videos.
@LittleStreetPottery16 күн бұрын
Yes, but it is much less forgiving than greenware. Harder to wipe off mistakes.

Do you paint this on greenware or bisque? Also when do you apply the clear glaze?
@LittleStreetPottery Жыл бұрын
Always greenware - rarely use clear - watch again for my trick! :) as well as this studio.kzbin.infofZmdqNYMR1U/edit

Great video. In the video you didn't say what made the base tile white. Was the tile white and already fired to gloss? Or do you paint directly on bisque ware. I watched Lennea Lark video and she painted on a white as base to then put underglaze on the design. But she didn't say what the white was, a glaze or underglaze? I was under the impression that underglaze couldn't be put over a glaze (unfired).
@LittleStreetPottery2 жыл бұрын
I use porcelain clay that dries white and fires white. I use it because paint underglaze on green ware and the white, smooth clay makes the colors pop. I then bisque fire to cone 04 - apply whatever glaze and then high fire. Watch a few more of my painting vids and you'll get a better sense of the process. Thanks!

It looks like you are painting an opaque white glaze around the underglazed painting and (I think) not applying any glaze over the painted portions. Am I understanding that correctly?
@LittleStreetPottery Жыл бұрын
YEs indeed!
@CeeJayKay4 ай бұрын
But would it work OK to apply clear glaze over the entire piece before firing it? And was it then fired at cone 6?
@TuftinAsia2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ann, do you add water to the underglaze?
@LittleStreetPottery2 жыл бұрын
Many times, yes. It helps when the underglaze is a little dry and it helps it roll off the brush more smoothly.

Hello... Can I use underglaze on greenware and un bisque ware? And when I glaze should I brush only around underglaze or on underglaze as well? Thanks. Céline from Switzerland
@LittleStreetPottery3 жыл бұрын
Hello Celine! Yes, you can use underglazes on green ware and bisque...it is easier to fix mistakes on greenware however. I glaze around because it tends to change the look of my illustrations if I glaze over. Generally, You can glaze right over underglazes if you wish!

Can you colour/underglaze background first (covering the whole pot) then do your designs? Or will it all blend in together?

Never tried it but if I did, I would have to start with a very light base. Thanks!

Wondering how you get away with so little underglaze... and not have it burn away in firing.
@annruel91423 жыл бұрын
Hi Lois. All underglazes are different. There are some underglazes that will burn out at the higher temperatures. I try not to use those. It just takes a little testing to make sure the underglazes you are using behave at the higher temps before committing them to the work... Check out my instructional videos if you want my suggestions....vimeo.com/showcase/6725318
