I have just discovered this channel and I am impressed with how much information was conveyed in a short video like this. Under 20 minutes videos full of useful information are just perfect for my short attention span and this is very informative too! Straight to the point, not at all cumbersome and good advice that can be followed.

I'm glad to hear that you've enjoyed my video! I know a lot of people don't have time for a 20-30 minute tutorial so I try to trim it down as much as possible without impacting the information.

It looks good but takes quite a long time, I just sand a bit to roughen the plastic, rhinox hide base, typhus corrosion anywhere water would gather or there is a change of metal type and drybrush ryza rust when dry. Chipped paint and nuln oil to taste. You get the texture as well and it is quick.

Bit late to the party. Great tutorial! Instructions are clear and the result is awesome! One question though: is there a way to make the rust a bit rougher and flakier? Im thinking about painting a bunch of necrons like this, with the idea that they underwent millions of years of rusting.

Great video choice!!!! Out of curiosity, have you ever considered doing a Mechanicum tutorial on something like a Thallax or Castellax? Maybe in the colors of a heresy era forge like Xana 2 (Scoria's planet) or Cyclotrathe? There is almost nothing out there showing Mechanicum stuff being painted, yet so many beautiful Mechanicum minis out there, I'd love to see your take.

Ok so here goes. This is how each of my components were when I painted them - Both Side panels of the cab were separate - The main chassis and engine, and driver seat was a single piece - The front suspension and grill was another - All four crew members were fully assembled - The console was a single piece. - The rivet gun and turret ring were seperate pieces - All the tyres and exhausts were also separate.

This is the most awesome rust effect I have ever seen! One question: after using the pencil, will the graphite stay in place, or do I need to use some warnish over it?
@FtonDavid5 жыл бұрын
That was awesome and the finished product is just inspired, great to see, really embodies the post apocalyptic world thing going on. I have some old bear traps I am doing for Gloomhaven, Broken Token has some 3d pieces for it. I am finding that my games workshop inks leave a lot of gloss, and no I'm not using the gloss versions, although they did come with the ultimate paint set (189 paints), do I need to water them down more, or is that just how it is? I've been trying an army painter anti-shine varnish, but to little effect. Maybe the Army Painter Inks will have better results, anyone else have experiences like this?

I just started a Death Guard army this month and before painting them was debating on doing them in a rusted metal theme, do you think this would look good for standard Plague Marines and the army or would the color not work well with the other various colors of the tentacles, teeth and capes?
@PeteTheWargamer6 жыл бұрын
Definitely! For the other details you need to decide if you want something which really stands out or something that's more subtle. If you want things to pop, you would choose colours that contrast against the orange rust. Blues, purple and greens would work well. If however you want something a little more subdued, the tentacles could be a pale flesh colour and the fabric and leather could be darker colours such as brown or black.
@TrippyTheShroom6 жыл бұрын
@@PeteTheWargamer Thank you for actually replying man, I genuinely appreciate it! I was just worried that the color clash would be too...exaggerated, you know? I figured a purple/bruised color for the capes (sort of like how they come pictured on the box) with maybe a dark green for the tentacles. They are Death Guard after all, I would feel remiss if I didn't include some nurgly green goodness to them. I feel like with this kind of scheme (which I'm definitely saving and going to refer back too multiple times, so thank you for that as well) it'll really be unique, which is what I wanted out of my Death Guard anyway. Cheers bud!
