Bought a used Mirada by Coachmen and the wife and I decided to redo the inside. We painted all the walls, cabinets etc, removed and replaced the carpet, furniture including reupholstered our dinette and swivel chair. Regarding the painting, never sanded, never taped, did most of the painting with roller and brush, with exception of the bathroom door and and all cabinets doors and drawers, we spray painted these...but never sanded. By not sanding and taping we saved days and days of unnecessary work, instead used a really good bonding primer and bonding paint...we just made sure we washed the walls with cold warm water and vinegar the rinsed. That's it.

There's definitely different methods to take when painting RVs. We've found that all of the steps we recommend in the video result in the paint job looking great and lasting for many years. Thanks for watching.

Great info! Thanks! So you found taking the windows out before painting works best? Great idea!

I have a super old RV, it’s got like fabric on the ceiling area’s…I’m perplexed with what to do! Washing may make it worse! I have to do with brush & roller, no ability to spray. Any suggestions, I’m listening. TIA
@JoyfullyGrowingBlog2 жыл бұрын
hmm I think if it were me I would look into putting shiplap or some type of paneling over the fabric ceiling areas. Good luck!

Is it better to paint before putting in new flooring? Great and informative video! Thank you

Yes, that sounds like the ideal way to do it so you don't even need to worry about taping off the flooring!

Super thorough and easy to follow thanks for sharing your experience. Question: Did you spray the ceilings and the walls the same colour? and what kind of finish was it? Like eggshell or satin??
@JoyfullyGrowingBlog Жыл бұрын
Yup! We sprayed everything with the exact same paint to keep things simple. The color was Sherwin-Williams Alabaster and the sheen was eggshell.

What grit of the sandpaper you used
@courtneyphilpott84942 жыл бұрын
I’m currently getting ready to paint. Couple questions. Why did you not have to remove the wallpaper? that won’t cause an issue in the cuter with chips? Also, I saw you are using calk does it not crack or peel after some time from the constant moving and settling of the camper? please help i’m doing so much research and need help
@JoyfullyGrowingBlog Жыл бұрын
We've found it easier to paint directly over the wallpaper, this is where the Gripper primer really is important. We used a flexible caulk.

@anaalvarez95152 жыл бұрын
Ok so Quick question so then once you primer you can paint it with any paint it doesn’t have to be oil base or nothing like that
@JoyfullyGrowingBlog2 жыл бұрын
Yup! Any paint should work, it’s really only the primer that is critical to use a really good quality gripper primer.

With rigs that are often traveling down the road and being lived in fulltime, we recommend following each of the steps outlined in the video to ensure a quality finish. I've never heard of the product you mentioned being used, but if it works for you then great!

Did you remove windows?
@JoyfullyGrowingBlog2 жыл бұрын
Yes, we did remove some but not all of the windows. The large window in the back had to be removed to get the larger furniture / appliances in and out, so it was easy enough to leave it out while we painted.

TSP is an ingredient in most breakfast cereals. Not that toxic.
@JoyfullyGrowingBlog2 жыл бұрын
Just because something is listed in the ingredients list in a processed "food" item doesn't mean it isn't toxic to the human body- but that's a whole other conversation on its own 🤣 As for the TSP cleaner, the warning on the back of the box states "All strong cleaners are irritating and may cause burns to the skin and eyes. Wear full cover eye protection, gloves and long sleeved shirt to help avoid contact with powder and solution. Watch out for splashes and overhead runs and drips and DO NOT allow solution to get into gloves or soak through shirt into skin. Thoroughly wash all contaminated clothing before reuse." So that is what we recommend when it comes to handling this product.
