When you shared the last picture, I thought it was the original photo. Amazing. Trying to paint a Doberman, but I’m not sure how to add value to the work if it just looks like a photo. Maybe adding some abstract object in the background? Thank you for this tutorial! It was very informative and helpful!

She doesn’t tell you all the specifics .. because its a matketing ploy for her patreon .. which tbh is fair play . Artists do need to make a living … But yeah - she goes into all the small fundamentals on her patreon.

Generally though round 1/2/4//6 are the best brushes & rowney line brush 1

Thank you for the excellent study! What color did you use for the glaze
@zaratomsart2 жыл бұрын
My pleasure =). Erm... I used a few glazes I think. But it depends on the light source. Usually a mixture of a blue (ultramarine blue usually) black or possibly some dioxazine purple if the colour is a little warmer. Sometimes black fur reflects browns as well so it just depends. Something like this in the video more blues and purples in the mix.

How do you decide whether to do the dog in acrylic or pastel??
@zaratomsart Жыл бұрын
Great question! For me, this now mainly falls down to what my Patreon members would like to see featured as I try to tailor the content there as much as I can. But when I was just doing pet portraits and a client asked my opinion on what medium would work best I always decided once I saw the photos. If the dog for instance had a really soft looking coat I would likely sway more towards pastels as the blending can be done so easily at each required layer. That's the only real time I'd be definitely deciding between one medium or the other. Other than that pastels and acrylics are very similar in how we work with them so I'd let the client decide if they have a strong preference =).

How do you make sure you have enough of the different values of color for the entire painting?
@zaratomsart3 ай бұрын
I only mix small amounts of paints and create a range of tones as I work. I find that helps to ensure the painting is more 3D and has more depth.

You don’t say what colors or sizes brushes you are using 😊
@zaratomsart Жыл бұрын
The colours and brushes I've used are all on the Patreon tutorial. The colours are predominantly mars black, titanium white, ultramarine blue and dioxazine purple. This is my go to palette for black fur depending on how warm or cool the fur looks. Black fur is really reflective so it can pick up browner tints as well.
