I spray airless and I brush and I roll… and I don’t watch videos to make dumb comments. Of course it needs another coat but so would brush and roller. The only system that offers true one coat application is airless. What impressed me is this guy had a good set up and consistent technique. What impressed me was the coverage and pattern from what is essentially a home user unit. Great video. 👍

Bro I don’t want to sound weird but I see this video and see a young man making it make me feel proud for you. Im showing this video to my 12 year old to give him ideas of a trade he can do. Not because I think is easy or something anybody can do. Believe me I drove semi trucks for 15 years and I understand how it feels to do a work that looks easy but it’s totally not. But I recognize that your trade and career is not only needed all the time but you can make a good profit doing it. Also my that was a construction worker and a wood worker all his life and there is nothing more satisfactory than to build something, fix something or just making it look better. Thanks for posting and keep up. Best of luck and wishes.

I think he was merely trying to show that you can cover an average size room in under an hour. In this situation (painting over a dark green), a second coat is absolutely required. Two coats is the norm with the flexio to achieve a professional look. An airless sprayer system would've covered it with one coat, but for the "once-in-a-while painter" the flexio is the greatest economical choice.

Great job on the video. I have the Home Depot version 3500 bought for $169.99 and I love it. Have painted 8 interior rooms this year as well as used for staining a new exterior deck. Of course a brush and roller may be needed at times to fine tune hard to reach or lightly sprayed areas but not that often in my case. The key to getting the single pass effect is first get a high quality single coat paint. Then fine tune the sprayer with your individual paint or stain testing on practice surfaces to gain experience. I agree with you this unit works great for a DIY landlord. I know because I am one.

I own a painting company and the one only time I use a sprayer is for commercial contracts or when I have to smoke seal homes/ framing after a major fire. I can tell you that taping and covering floors/ trim/ windows takes time to do. And using that paint guide he's using is far from perfect. I can absolutely have that room painted quicker than he sprayed it. He needs to put a second coat after it dries and he needs to cut in the ceiling still using a brush to make a proper line. Sprayers have their place but I know it's not speeding anything up for that specific project. Good old brush, sleeve and a drop sheet is still the best and fastest way to paint that room.
@dennisryan7616

I'm not debating your good at what you do. But airless sprayers are much better quality finish. We tape our ceilings and give 400 wide protection sheet and sprsy our walls. The cutting in line is to perfection. Its well worth as you stated to tape everywhere up first. As it reputation we need. But spraying is superior.. We do all our woodwork./ doors / walls etc.. And uts effortless if you know how too...

I couldn’t understand why so many painters were stating that rolling and cutting would be better, and I finally get it. Spraying isn’t faster if you don’t get the coverage after all that prep work. You’ve saved me time and money. I believe this sprayer has its sweet spot, but it’s probably not for interior walls and time saving. Great knowledge share!

Just a few tips, sprayers are used to paint over stuff that rollers can't roll over, and to also paint over things that you don't want brush strokes on --- trim, cabinets, crown molding, window casing, etc. Spraying always takes longer to do because of the prep work, but has a better result in the end for trim, cabinets, crown molding, window casing, etc. It's also pointless to spray a wall unless the wall has a really jagged texture that a roller can't fully fill. The most efficient way to paint a room is to freehand brush the trim, wall edges, window casing and roll the wall. The best quality is to spray the trim, window casing, molding etc, then spray the wall edges a few inches to prevent brush strokes, then roll the wall with a roller.
@joemirag
@joemirag Жыл бұрын
another tip is that sprayers release alot of fumes into the air, and those fumes travel throughout the area and stick to whatever it lands on, so you might end up with a ton of paint that travelled through your hvac system and messed up your filter, etc.

Thank you for making this video. Few questions as I’m concerned about the overspray. Was there any issues with overspray on the ceiling / window / doors? Do you recommend rolling vs / spray for your own home ? I’ve heard opinions on quality of finish. I’m painting in my home for the first time and I got a Wagner 3500 but I’m reluctant to use it now cause I’m worried on overspray. Thank you !
@MikePrezAI

I just finished completely repainted my kitchen, video is up if you want to see step-by-step. I would say, if you are painting walls, go the roll and brush. Less prep. If you are redoing a kitchen, go with a sprayer. You will always have some type of overspray when using a sprayer. So you want to cover up your floors and windows. If you do get paint on something you do not want, have paint remover around and it'll come up quick.

Hi - Yeah, I would use a different paint gun. I do have a new paint gun, the Graco (amzn.to/3uICyPW). It would have allowed for more even coverage and probably would speed up the time since you do not need to add water to dilute the paint so that it can spray out.

I watched this video twice. because of your technique with the guard usage. and your other information I thought was really good because I'm going to do my living space. and I would like to do it in a quicker way than rollerz/brush. So to put on the 2nd coat it probably will take you not quite as long as the 1st so that's still pretty darn good. Q. If you decided to do the baseboard trim and the trim around the windows a different color would you have masked off those areas instead of just running the sprayer and guard? Or Would you have used a paintbrush and roller?

The short answer is that you can; however, you might want to use a different spray gun. The Wagner can spray Acrylic Enamel, which you would use on a car, but you would need to thin the paint out with water. This might affect the longevity and final color. I would suggest the Graco (amzn.to/47LeFWp) if you are looking for a handheld sprayer. You do not need to thin the paint and it will come out looking great.

@@MikePrezAI it went well, had one of those 2 foot long panels to cover the corer as two different color walls were preferred. The cleaning of the machine wasn't as hard as I was expecting. I enjoyed using it to paint out trim and baseboards...hundreds of feet of trim/baseboards so it was helpful

Here is my situation. I just built a very large shed that is connected to another building. I have a Graco X5 airless that I painted the outside of the new building with. There is a section where the two buildings connect that I can't access with the X5. I would have to carry everything onto the roof and I can't do that. I am looking for a handheld airless for this one section. I need something that will do the job but I don't want to spend a fortune.

What type of paint will you spray? Depending on the thickness, it might not be sprayable without first thinning the paint. This might be a good one to use, but depends on the size of the wall so you do not overheat the unit.
@dangrimes5078
@dangrimes5078 Жыл бұрын
@@MikePrezAI I am spraying latex. I also thinned the paint a little for the X5 although I'm not sure it was necessary. In my experience only airless sprayers are worth a damn. I bought an hvlp or whatever you call it at harbor freight and that thing won't spray anything thicker than water.

Sprayer is fast as long as you mask EVERYTHING you don’t want to paint on. With a roller you have more control. For a one room job I’d go with a roller. Spray creates tiny droplets that fly all over. My experience as a non professional painter anyway

Thanks! I would first make sure the sprayer is cleaned. So unscrew the canister, pour some warm water and paint thinner inside, screw it back on, and spray into a sink for 5 - 10 seconds off and on. Then clean the nozzle heads with warm water and paint thinner to break up any large pieces of dried paint. After that, I would make sure the paint is thinned out prevent clogging. Start by mixing 10% water and 90% paint. If it still splatters or clogging, then increase to 15%. Just don't want to add too much water because then it becomes runny. It could also be the type of paint you are using and the brand. Some paints are better than others when using a sprayer.

Thanks for the video. Some videos don't recommend this sprayer for interiors. Now like u I want to use it for that once in a while interior job. What do u think? Also using that paint brand Valspar. To thin or not?
@MikePrezAI
@MikePrezAI 2 жыл бұрын
@@Blah-blah-sure Not a problem. YEah I understand people do not want to use it for interior stuff because of the overspray. Depending on the paint and the amount pushing out, it can be minimzed. However, I would always recommend to do the proper prep work and cover anything you do not sprayed. Witht eh Valspar, you should thin it out to maybe 10%. Hope that helps.

I just used the 3000 to paint a bath room. I had issues with it spitting, so I had to experiment to figure out how to make it stop. First, don't fully pull the trigger, the trigger has two stages. Stage one: half trigger starts the turbo fan to get it up to speed. Stage two: full triggers squeeze feeds the paint. So start out half trigger squeeze and get the fan up to speed then full squeeze to paint. I also adjusted the material amount and fan speed. Using Valspar latex, material setting at 9 and fan speed at 8 seemed to give the most consistent mist. I also kept a wet rag handy because if the gun started spitting, usually there was a build up of paint on the nozzle, so I would wipe it frequently. Don't start and stop if you can help it. Once you get it going, keep spraying as long as you can. Also, I found it would start spitting when the canister was getting empty, so keeping more paint in the canister will help. Cheers.

Question: Can you used THIS sprayer to paint the outside of a house... Stucco? I am tired of rolling this on... very tired... LOL
@MikePrezAI
@MikePrezAI 7 ай бұрын
If you are painting the outside of your house, I wouldn't recommend this one. You need to use a thicker specialty paint because of the stucco and this one would not allow for it to spray out. You would have to dilute the paint with water, which would interfere with the final color and properties of the paint. I use the Graco (link included afterward) now for all of my jobs. It is more powerful, cordless, and can spray out thicker paint. Good luck with your project and if you have any questions, feel free to ask. amzn.to/3uICyPW
