Great tutorial and the only one that I could find to capture their glossy armour! Any chance you can do a Darth Vader painting tutorial please?

I seem to be having trouble getting a solid coat for some army painter colors. It took me many layers for certain colors especially reds. May I ask about how many layers of Fire Lizard did you use before you got an opaque coat?
@PeteTheWargamer6 жыл бұрын
I did about three layers in total. It sounds like the pigment and medium may have become separated in the pot. You sometimes have to give them a really good shake otherwise its just medium with tiny bit of paint in it.

Cool video! Two questions: a flow aid would be something like lamian medium right? And secondly: can you use army painter quickwash with washes from citadel too? Or is the composition too different? Thank you!

So acrylic paint consists of two parts, a resin medium and a pigment so Lahmian Medium and Mediums in general are basically just pigment-less acrylic paint. When you mix them in with regular paint you reduce the concentration of the pigment without changing the viscosity of the the paint itself. Flow aids and 'wet water' are different and will dilute the whole mixture and reduce the viscosity and surface tension of the paint. Essentially making it runnier as well as reducing the pigmentation. Finally, yes the Army Painter Inks and the GW washes are mostly the same kind of thing. Although I would say that the AP quick shades are a little stronger.

The War Gamer thank you! Any flow aids or wet water that you would recommend? Maybe that can be a video: using flow aid for shadowing or thinning paints and lamin medium to have more control for highlighting. :)
