Awesome tips. The mermaid is very beautifully drawn and the concept of her in space instead of water is unique and mesmerising. Loved it 💕

Oooo! I don't know about others, but I can see a lot of uses for this with my own works. I like to do fantasy/sci-fi pics mostly, so scales can definitely come in handy. But even more than that, the "jelly" tip will definitely make any slime-type creatures much easier to create (while I'm all for creativity in all forms, I'm also a big believer in reducing my opportunities to make up brand new swear words while working), drawing and rendering snakes or other reptiles will definitely be easier and faster now, and even if I don't ever make a mermaid or a snake, the tips on creating the scale effect can still be tweaked a wee bit for things like leather outfits or armour. And that just might also make things a wee bit easier for me to render out cloth textures, too! But that was a great fin-ish to this tutorial! I'll see myself out.

Eyyyyyy so glad it's helpful, I was hoping you guys would be able to take away more from it than just a mermaid tail! Jelly rendering was one of those turning point things that changed my perception of how light scatters! Thanks so much for watching, I hope your future scaley paintings go by *swimmingly* 😉

Oooh I think with those, you should probably skip the specular/glitter step. Reptile scales are usually dry, and specular highlights make the surface look wet. And maybe find a more reptilian vector for step two!
