While watching this video I tried to remember where I had seen your skin color palette before and realized that it is probably the most classic skin tone and those exact or similar colors have been used for decades back into the 60s for how you did fantasy art skin tones where often magentas are used and yellows and the effect is both fantastical and striking and your models display that it is still an interesting choice to put on the table where you want something to really have that "classic" fantasy art look and feel. I feel that these are somewhat of a table-top representation of a Boris Vallejo evil barbarian painting or Earl Norem's works. It's those flesh tone and rich ink based colors that we often look away from in current painting meta. I wanted to expound this and why I think this is more than just a speed paint. The painterly/artistic colors and the call backs to Vallejo and Norem are because those striking and rich artists colors give the models the same "suggested" power that the artists gave their paintings where characters such as John Carter or Tarzan were given those "rich skin colors" that suggest that they have more "life" and "power" than us pale and wane normal people. It wasn't just the herculean muscles it was that rich color that suggested more vigor, a hyper vigor that I've only ever seen on the screen once and that was with the first 300 movie where again the use of art color post processing on the characters was done to suggest that they were possessed of a hyper-life and vigor that enabled such heroism. Your speed paint again captures that where these "untamed" people are full of an untamed vigor. Very striking.

😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 Thanks a million!!! You read my mind and put in words everything that's behind my choices. In the future when I'll have all the "basic", foundation videos I planned for the channel I want to talk extensively about these topics, about Frazetta and Vallejo, and about Vallejo in particular for his use of secondary and bouncing lights and how we can translate those magnificent sensations in our 3D medium. You really made my day because you totally got the direction of the handful of videos I put together in this first month 😊. Thank you so soooooooo much again!!! 😘

@@neilbrown2451 It's a pleasure 😊 and don't worry the process it's really forgiving, you have a lot of time to work and you can go back and forward easily. Just remember to be very gentle in the rubbing phase, acrylics are not afraid of oils and white spirit but they don't want too much physical stress

I always wonder at the sort of people who would downvote a video like this. The models look great, exponentially so considering that they were completed in a few hours. I can't even assemble the damn things in five hours.

😊😊😊! It's a great tool; super fluid and easy to use in airbrush but with a covering power that can go from transparent to completely opaque

Make sure to read the label to see if what you're getting is 'opaque', or 'trans'. Bit of a shock if you're expecting one, and end up with the other.
@MarcoFrisoniNJM
@MarcoFrisoniNJM 5 жыл бұрын
I always use an opaque white ink; you can make it transparent adding medium and thinner if you need it but you can't do the contrary with the transparent version

Ciao Marco fantastic job! Need to definitevely start to use oil paints for that extreme definition and contrast that they bring to the minis and be less shy on the airbrush utilization! Great video & explamation congrats! Will try to put in practise this way this very weekend! Keep up the great work

Your airbrush control is insane. I'll try that on mine. Biggest lesson from all your videos is "don't worry too much about overspray". I didn't follow your advise about highlighting from the top, and tried to apply an even coat on my model and now it's all flat! 🤗 Lesson learned!!! Understanding transparency... Damn that easy on paper, but when in front of the miniature it's a different story!!! Haha
@MarcoFrisoniNJM
@MarcoFrisoniNJM 5 жыл бұрын
😊😊😊Thanks!!! Awesome, this is exactly the main fear to overcome; overspray is almost never a problem but it helps to properly fuse the model together! And you'll see, you will be able to translate and use the same understanding of transparencies and lights in the brush (because basically my approach is a translation from proper brush work to airbrush 😅)
