I've been tinkering around with painting for years. I ran into your video a winter scene two cardinals on a bird house. Following alone with you was so easy. Stop and start as you paint along. You made my cardinals come to life like. Can't wait to try painting covered bridge.

I wish I was better at getting depth to my paintings. I so love doing your paintings. On this one I had a very hard time getting my bridge looking like it was over the water. Totally me! You are an awesome teacher! I just cannot grasp the knack of doing it. Thanks for your videos. They are my sanity evenings right now! I watch then rewatch to paint the picture. Had a wonderful evening with my daughter while we painted this evening!

When I painted my creek, I didn’t like it. So I let it dry and repainted it. It looked about the same, so I left it. After I got my bridge, grass and flowers done, I thought the water looked good! I was pleasantly surprised

Just completed doing this painting and it was fun. Thank you for sharing this with us. The only problem I had was deciding on a substitute for "fire red", as I could not find this in my area. I used Cad red deep and it worked fine for me. I'm moved to SC from Massachusetts over 30 years ago and loved the covered bridges and the Berkshires.

Michelle, what kind of bristle brush do you use in all of your paintings? I bought a "cheap pack" of bristle brushes and they're not to good. Lol would a hogs bristle brush be better.? Could you give me a recommendation on what I can get at hobby lobby or Michael's?

What size canvas would be a good substitute for the 16x20 on this painting. It’s hard to find this size in bulk qty for a good price. TIA

After your done painting all your pictures how do you wash your brushes that don't ruin your bristles.? How do you keep your bristles so nice?
@michellethepainter.4 жыл бұрын
Hi Anita, I usually just wash them in water, but if they need some extra cleaning, I will use dish soap. The trick is to make sure you get all of the paint out of between the bristles. I hope this helps. Have fun painting! ~Michelle

Love your painting tutorials but I do have one question? How do you prime the canvas before starting? Thank you !
@michellethepainter.3 жыл бұрын
Good Morning Susan, Most canvasses that you buy from the store these days, or online, are already primed when you buy them. In my videos, I'm using canvas that is pre-primed when I by it, so I don't do anything additional to it. If you are purchasing raw canvas, than you will want to put a layer of primer on the side that you want to paint on. There is a product called Gesso, that is specifically designed to be a good adhesion primer for art canvasses. If the canvas you have is white on one side and tan on the other side, than it is already pre-primed, if it is tan on both sides than it is raw. I hope this info helps. Have fun painting! ~Michelle
