Good to see a video that isnt slapping contrast over white/ grey primer and producing something as quick as possible. As a beginner the knowledge in this video helps with base techniques etc

awesome work thanks for sharing! I live in a desert (Las Vegas) I have a wet pallet and I try to paint like this but the paint always dries on the tip of the brush unless I thin the paint way down. I mainly use a size 1 as well. It happens when i try to do detail work/edge highlighting. Any advice by chance? Thank you again for the amazing video!

Ohhh painting in that desert heat sounds tricky! You may want to try adding a bit of Acrylic retarder in place of some of the water used to thin our paints to help combat the drying. Or instead of thinning the paint more on the palette, you can instead leave your brush a bit more damp after rinsing it in your water cup. By dabbing the brush and not removing all the excess water in the brush, we can leave it more moist and therefor when you pick up paint off the palette, the moisture in your brush will help thin the paint within the brisles itself. You will take some juggling to find that sweet spot, but those ideas is where I would start. Hope that helps and I'm happy you enjoyed the tutorial! Hope to see more and consider checking out my Patreon for more videos! Happy Painting :)

I love this! You really nailed getting colors in there while at the same time having it look a bit more dark and subtle in a way that really fits 40k. Judging by what youtube has to offer that is for sure a tricky balance since most content creators seem to either go contrast heavy in an attempt to emulate the cartoony gw box art or splash streaking grime on everything and call it grim dark. How long did it take you to finish the model? Great job on the painting and the video. Keep it up! :)

Cheers mate thanks for watching and enjoying the video! To answer your question, this Lictor took me a day session to paint (5hrs) with a couple 15 & 30min breaks in between for rest, coffee, and stretches.

@@BbMiniatures Thats not long at all! I'm really struggling with figuring out how to paint my nids. I wanna do something fast-ish but contrast just isn't for me so this video is a great direction to explore!
