Very clean and crisp looking, for the sake of contrast, rusty necrons would be awesome, I already know how I would attack them, but it is always interesting to see how different people handle rust effects because it feels like there are so many different options, for me, I get the most enjoyment and best results using the life colour rust and dust paint set over grey and black brown working light to dark with heavy washes and speckling, but would be interested to see how you would go about getting a rusty finish!

@ArtisOpus
@ArtisOpus Жыл бұрын
Hey buddy, it's not too much of a surprise you're struggling, you're not using the same technique or tools, any cut down brushes won't taper to a finer point at the tips of the hairs, so you've probably made something that can stipple OK, but might be a tad rough for the drybrushing. I use this set of brushes (it comes with a pad), and an XXL texture palette. The core principles of the technique involve using high-quality round 'lightbulb' shaped drybrushes. These have a lot of fine hairs, and the technique uses a small (predictable, not too much) amount of moisture and frequent testing on the palette to keep things high quality. Set: store.artis-opus.com/products/series-d-drybrush-set-deluxe-5-slot Palette: store.artis-opus.com/products/xxl-texture-palette-a3-brand-new-product-design Any further questions pop in a new comment again, don't want to lose you :)

Your choice of Temple Guard Blue as a highlight color for the base of Macragge Blue is a bit unorthodox. It always seemed a bit too close to green for that. But if you're using purple for the shading, perhaps a tiny bit of yellow on the highlights works well with it. I know a bit of color theory, and that makes some sense to me. There is one thing that puzzles me, though. Is there any reason in particular why you mix Leviadon Blue with Flesh Tearers Red for the shade, instead of just going for Shyish Purple?
@ArtisOpus
@ArtisOpus 3 жыл бұрын
Hey dude, I liked the tone it made, and just wanted it to have 'a blue' in there, I know that doesn't hugely make sense objectively, but I felt it was less at odds with the mini than other potential options :)

I would prime it buddy, chaos black! It will help retsrd the paint and keep it workable for longer, plus it's then the same as your mini, so more relevant for testing

@ArtisOpus
@ArtisOpus 3 жыл бұрын
Hey dude, sorry for the delay, it's probably a matter of thinning/thinner - you can always add a little strong alcohol to your thinner if you want to include something that'll promote a matte finish, or use a tad of matte medium. It sounds like you've just used more, perhaps thicker, or perhaps not thinned as aggressively as I did, hope that helps!
